JJ still enrolled

Incessant, never-ending agenda and shtick aside, grizindabox is right on this one.

That article tells us nothing at this point. You guys are reading way too much into it, and this is far from over. I would not hold my breath on #10 being under center this fall.

Nice, a compliment and back-handed jab in the same sentence. :thumb:

This is getting better than Real Housewives of Atlanta. :thumb:

Well, this is eGriz ya know. It is better than any "reality" show on TV. Some are kinda good the rest is BS... ;)

I know this has been discussed before (shocking I know) but do you think after all of this if JJ is not expelled/charged/convicted that he would WANT to be playing for the Griz? It would be a difficult situation for both home and away games for this kid. He has a redshirt year if needed and I'm sure Portland State would gobble him up so quick we wouldn't know what happened...

Hmm, he's a college quarterback. He's played in Neyland, against playoff teams, and in a very hostile environment (MSU). I don't think a few comments from the crowd are going to rattle him.

I thought his redshirt year was burned. No?

I understand that...I just mean having to put up with it, no matter how much he's been through on the field, still can take a toll. I certainly want him here believe me but wouldn't hold it against him even if "everything comes up roses" that he would seek a transfer...that's all.

Well this is better news for JJ, the team, and GRIZ NATION. I questioned the decision to being expelled, before having the facts. Regardless of reasoning, Engstrom made the most common sense temporary decision, under the circumstances. Legally, he also did not lead on, one way or the other. Engstrom gets an A in this aspect for this most recent update.

For those questioning why now, and why in the way he did? It makes sense to me. How long was he away? He just gets back, and has 1000's of emails, and voice mails to go through. The majority coming from the rumored Expulsion, of your teams starting QB. Couple that with God knows how many legal things he is working on. The legal crap could not be put off. Meanwhile, he decides to hold off the wolves, and buy some time, until fall camp, at least. He says what he did today, if for anything, to lessen the monotony of this nightmare.

I am sure he will still be plenty busy working on this, and all the other crap, but this is the one thing he had most control over. He also gave an honest regarding JJ's status with the school, and team. My guess is, if this is still in limbo come fall camp, JJ could find himself suspended from team activities, until more is known. If, they find out positives supporting JJ's side, it will be a good sign to see him at practicing in fall camp.

Anything less than that outcome, we just need to wait for the process to take it's course. Speaking of JJ, whoever is legal counsel is, they are doing one hell of a job, not making this worse for JJ, Missoula, the school, and state. Whoever they are, my applause goes to them.

Apparently Engstrom's counsel is doing one hell of job too. Had he said anything more, or less. it could have been used for O'day, Pflu, feds, and the accuser(s).

With that said. I am pulling for, and praying for JJ to be found innocent. Also praying the accuser is able to go on with her life, somewhat normally, without any ridicule, and has a good life too.

One of the sounder/more reasonable posts in this "all over the map" thread.... :thumb:

So if he transfers to Portland State the opposing fans won't heckle him? Could you imagine him running away from this to Portland State and then having to come back and play in Washington-Grizzly Stadium? If he doesn't get expelled, the best thing for him would be to keep his head held high and lead the Griz to the NC!

If he believes that he has done nothing "wrong" (apparently there is significant room for interpretation as to what is wrong, whether it is illegal or only a violation of student conduct or a or just lot of fabricated hot air), he should dig his toes in and wait out the storm. If he survives then he will have proven his character and have a whole lot of people cheering for him, including and especially me. If found otherwise, he needs to take his lumps and move on. Regardless of the outcome, he has most of his life ahead of him.

As for personal experience with this? I was accused of sexual harassment, a permanent written warning placed in my personnel file, my career stunted then kicked to the curb when there was a "reduction in workforce". Because it was in a corporate setting, I was not given any kind of due process and was never allowed to face my accuser or even know her name. She didn't even reside in the same building where I worked. I survived and prospered since then learned the lesson that anytime you write anything down, assume it will be viewed by the person you least wish to view it and interpreted in the most distorted way. And assume that any mail message will never go away. My incident came from an email that I contributed to 5 years prior which someone saved, printed, and placed upon the accuser's desk (or so HR told me). Believe me, I hope that JJ gets all of the legal protection he deserves until found guilty of a specific violation.

For those expecting, or thinking he will tuck tail, and leave, think about it more.

(1) Leaving will not be easier for him. No matter where he plays football, fans will ridicule him and give him a hard time.

(2) How many college or pro QB's are not strong enough emotionally/mentally, to face this kind of heat? Seriously, is there a more scrutinized, in the spotlight, and pressure sports job than being a starting qb? Granted, he is human, but I don't see this getting a college QB to down to the point of not standing up for himself, and face the scrutiny head on.

(3) Athletic, and Academic standing aside, leaving/running away from the confrontation is likely to create more doubt with more people. IF, myself, or anyone I care for were face with charges like these, all be damned, I would fight it with every ounce I could muster, even if it killed me trying. I believe a lot of us would fight it, especially when you know you are 100% innocent.

I am guessing JJ has heard negativity over and over in his life, people doubting his dreams, and ambitions to become a college QB. Hell, how many times have egrizzers seen the crap written about him being too small, weak arm, etc? I am sure he has heard the same crap since he started playing football. I am sure he is used to fighting for what he believes in, and proving people wrong. Why would the citizens of Missoula, the state of Montana, and his doubters, be any different for him?

I don't know what others think, but I certainly am not selling JJ short. His 2nd half the season performance sold me, and me a fan, of his. I will never doubt this kid again, on or off, the field.

By the way, I hope, and would not blame, JJ or any of the other accused males, whenever all this is done with, if anyone publicly says "Gwen Florio, Kiss my ass!!!" I hope any, and all the males found innocent have the balls to say it, after being found innocent. Sorry, but I have no respect for her kind of tabloid reporting, especially when it comes to young adults, or kids.

I've heard rumors that Johnson is seriously considering transferring to Portland St. Again, only rumors but still more than just our speculation. Football-wise I hope he doesn't, he's an absolute game changer with the way he reads the game. Is it Sept already?!
