O'Day doesn't know what he's talking about. Never did. Never will. .....
The Haley guy is not knowledgeable...Haley is not on top of FCS (actually sorta a dummy sometimes).
Wow. One guy was the chairman of the selection committee while the other is the director for the most recognized FCS sports page. But you--a message board super hero--somehow knows more than both of them.

Of course, PR didn't say those things. Do you think you're funny by editing someone's post like this? Loser.

All of the realignment at the FBS level is causing alot of changes in the landscape and otherwise. I'm sorry, I'm just not an alarmist like alot of you are.

The Big Sky conference is currently very strong. Some posters like to diss Fullerton, but in point of fact, he looked ahead and made some terrific moves several years ago.

a) what makes someone wanting the Griz to move up an alarmist?
b) Strong? Shirley you can't be serious. :?

Has nothing to do with moving up. People who think the sky is falling for FCS are alarmist, in my view.

Yes, the Big Sky conference is strong. Strong and getting stronger in football. Getting stronger and deeper in basketball. No schools leaving the conference. What don't you understand about being strong?

PR, I'd like to apologize to you for editing your post like that. I know that is dishonest and I shouldn't have done it. Again, my apologies.

Thanks.

Of course the Big Sky is strong and possibly getting stronger, every other conference has lost their top dogs over the last few season. Your strength comment is all relative. Saying the Big Sky is strong does not mean FCS football is strong.

How many more teams do you think the big boys will let move to FBS before they reorder the subdivisions again?

Historically, that breaking point has occured when the number in the top division (however it is titled) reaches 125-130 teams. With GSU and ASU moving ,and JMU rumored to be, JMU would put it at 130.

Of course, the bigger question is, where could UM and MSU go? WAC is dead, and you need a Conference invite to move to FBS. So unless the Sunbelt was willing to start a truly western branch (Idaho, NMSU, UM, MSU and ???, ???) then it would take a major raid on the MWC for a spot to open.

Say what?!? So you didn't say those things in the 3rd post of this thread? Or are you talking in the third person so you can maintain "plausible deniability"? {if so, hey Ricky Henderson, who shot JFK?}
Or did your account get hacked?
I always thought you were a little unstable but... wow, impressive.

FBS total numbers really don't matter anymore with the new Playoff structure. The top 5 conferences take 71% of the revenue and 29% goes to the g5 as it is called now. I doubt the big boys really care how many pieces the 29% is carved into as that does not change their payout from the BCS or TV in anyway. They have already broken off from the rest except for some cross scheduling with the g5 and they need that.

I don't see a new conference opening up. I definitely do see a cap on new FBS g5 members as MWC, Sun Belt, BE, etc won't want to cut that $$ amount up too much. That is why Appy is jumping now as their won't be many more seats.

I would not be surprised to see the MWC lose a couple of teams in the next few years though as those seats are moved around a bit

Jon, this is what I've said over and over, in several other threads. At this point, I'm not sure whether or not I would support a move up by UM, but, for certain, I don't know where the he!! they'd go!!!

Oh My! So delusional. The BSC is strong only relative to the rapidly declining FCS and has one NC in the last decade. And the BSC is far from strong top to bottom. As far as Bball goes, Montana was 21-1 against the BSC and how did they do in the NCAA? What is the BSC record in the NCAA? Get real; what don't you understand about strong?

the discussion about moving up has always been about football--never basketball. but when you're the athletic director, you have to look at the entire mix of sports programs. i know o'day is a basketball fan, and i know he knows that both men's and women's basketball would have thrived in a larger conference. better competition would improve attendance, attract better recruits ( mr.large?) and get us on tv. if you're not on tv--and i don't mean "big sky tv"--you are not on the basketball map.
