Kent would never hire Bobby back unless it was for rush chairman of the SAE fraternity (damn glad to meet ya!). The man embarrassed himself and the university multiple times acting like a 15 year old boy. Do you think any of the hubris that oozed from that man's pours had anything to do with the culture he created for the program? Do you think we haven't been trying to clean up his mess since Pflugrad took over?

Regarding the not firing/not retiring/not voluntary moving on of Jerome Souers...I must admit I'm torn. I've met Jerome about 3-4 times over the years. Usually around town or once or twice while running stairs with friends at the Skydome when I lived up there. I found his to be very personable. I know a few former players and they all speak highly of him. His players generally graduated, generally stayed out of trouble (things were ugly there for a while when Axman was coach) but NAU struggled to win the big games during his time @ NAU. Whether or not it's truly time for a change, said change is happening. I'm not saying NAU can't catch magic in a bottle and turn things around with the hiring of some young coordinator looking to make a name but I also am a realist. Things can often get a whole lot worse.
I was at last Saturday's game vs. WIU and from my point of view something was off with the team. A feeling of malaise and lack of urgency permeated the stadium. The offense was bickering after plays. Cookus had a rough game and was visibly frustrated. Both the OL and DL got shoved around by WIU. Maybe the team saw this coming? I expect this will make it hard for recruiting unless they name a replacement head coach quick.
What say you, egriz? Do Hauck and/or Pflugrad have a shot at the NAU head coaching job. They both have current and former connections to NAU. Does Jerome end up back in Missoula? This is like a soap opera.
Hoping it somehow works for me to scoot up to Missoula in early November for the NAU-UM game. I had a blast last time.
Cheers,
MTJack

Can't be... hope it's nothing serious.

Hauck takes NAU job and we trade Stitt to NAU for Hauck!, That way its a win win. NAU is use to shitty end of the season runs and we can start dominating the BigSky again and playing for a National Title
Sorry just had to![]()
Conjecture, unrealistic, playing for and winning the natty is two different things if you remember. Jerome had quite the run and good for him. I hope the retirement was his choice and he has a long life.

I imagine it will be more likely that he is looking for a new job at the end of the season as well.
