Jamal Wilson - Kicking Ass at D-Tackle

I love seeing that he's doing well, especially after having been caught in an offense change twice. Don't miss the last sentence below.

"The team's newest DT has progressed far beyond where Suiaunoa expected in just three weeks of spring practices. Wilson has cracked the team's two-deep depth chart with a healthy dose of playing time in practice."

"He's played a whole lot of football here, so he don't expect anything different," Wilson's new position coach said. "He expects to play a whole lot of football and he's going to work toward it. And that's what he's doing."

"Wilson's weight spiked to almost 270 pounds in anticipation of his beefier role with the Grizzlies in 2015, but the senior said he's actually slimmed down a bit since then. He's right around 260 pounds, just above where he played as a junior."

"By the time fall comes, by the time we line up in August, I would say he's either starting or helping us a lot."

Awesome to see. Thanks for posting PR.

JW is a great example of a team player. I'm excited to see him on the defensive side of the ball this year.

This will be great for Jamal! He could become a very good player at D Line and that will be good for us as he does have good speed. Go da Griz!

He was the one guy I thought got a potentially raw deal in this transition. Glad to see he's making the most of the opportunity that has presented itself....really wouldn't want to see him coming at me as an offensive skill player!!

These types of players are so crucial to a good program. Guys that don't complain about their plight, but instead go out and compete and work their tail off to be the best they can for the team, sets a good example for everyone else in the locker room. The fact that the guy is able to make a very difficult switch in his senior year says a lot about him. Great leadership.

Agreed 100%. I was already a Wilson fan....now, even more so.

I've always liked the quick, physically solid, agile DTs...they can cause major quickness issues for an Oline...Im excited about this.

Having Jamal Wilson being able to contribute in a big way on the DL is a HUGE DEAL.

Get it going, big boy!!

:D I love this story! I agree guys like Jamal are crucial to building an elite program. He couldn't have a better position coach to help him make the transistion.
