During the pre game show on bstv the sideline guy told director he wanted to use that as a story line. Did he play high school football?

He wanted to use what as a story line? Wiley playing football for the Griz? Is he? Will he? He was an all-conference receiver in high school. As I recall, his coach said he could play receiver at the college level.

So did they say anything about Wiley during the game? I had to go to a wedding and missed game.

He's on the Griz FB team. I'd copy and paste the link but I'm at work. Check out Bill Speltz in today's Missoulian.

Does anyone in the know or closer to the team than I get a feel for this move? Did Jake have a falling out with Tinks? Is he burned out on BB?

Where are the inconsiderate posters calling him a quitter? He is still a GRIZ, just in another sport. He is far from quitter. From what I hear, he left the basketball team after Wayne asked him to take his time on his decisions, and to be 100% sure of whatever his decision was. Sounds like he was given time to figure things out. I doubt if there is a personal wrath between them.

I'm certainly not in the know but athletic 6'6" forwards are a dime a dozen, athletic 6'6" receivers on the other hand are a rarity, perhaps he had aspirations of playing on Sundays. Take Osweiler for example, I'm sure he could have had a fine hoops career at gonzaga, maybe even a shot a playing in Europe but look where he is now.

I'm not in the know. Just takin a guess here. At the time of his Sr year in high school Montana's schollie to play bball may have been his best offer but fball is where his heart is at. Watching the fball team struggle all last year and mabey thinking how he could have helped them and then this year seeing the teams success and really wanting to be a part of that, along with the possibility of losing time to Kemp this year and even more to Breunig next year, solidified his decision for him. I know we'll miss him on the court but his potential in the feild is gonna be awesome.

my thought exactly. look at tony gonzalez. outstanding bb player at cal, he'd probably be bagging groceries or selling real estate had he not tried football. happy wiley stayed, look forward to having him on the football team.
