I believe a multi sport scholarship athlete has his scholarship counted against the football scholarship allotment. With the # of WR's we have on the roster and limited scholarships, how much sense would that make for the GRIZ to use a scholarship against football? This year, Wiley's scholarship was against the basketball team.
So if he gets a track scholarship in 2014, he has to stick with track only for it to not count against the football scholarship. I believe this is the main reason we see football scholarship players competing in other sports more often than not.
Maybe someone can add to this, but I think I am close to this being the case.
Hold on there grizruler.....it's starting to look more and more like the the Griz FB staff are trying to circumvent the loss of Griz football schollies by bringing in football players....calling them "track" and/or "basketball" players....letting them run around the track a couple of times...shoot several free throws....and VOILA.....they go out for the football team....keep their scholly..nice little racket the boys have got going. I'll bet the NCAA would like to hear about that 'lil hustle....anyone hear "post season ban"?
