Jake Maier - UC Davis

UC Davis' new QB is putting up huge numbers. He was 33-38 last night with 4 TDs against UND (granted, an injury decimated UND). But Maier is putting up numbers like this almost every game. He has a 70% completion percentage on the year and his numbers are Gubrud like, literally as they are 1-2 on the Big Sky leaderboard and look almost identical. He was an offensive player of the year for his JUCO conference last year and has already picked up a stats FCS offensive player of the week. UC Davis is much improved with a new head coach in Dan Hawkins and this kid at the QB.

Dan Hawkins lobbied hard to get the Griz job before Stitt was hired. I wouldn't have hired him either given the shit show he put on in Colorado.

Good for Hawkins, seems like a nice enough guy. I like seeing guys revive their careers, i'm hoping Bobby gets the same chance one day in the Big Sky

But he is. He still went 26-43 for 347 in that game. His total stats are almost exactly the same as Gubruds right now.

He did a hell of a job at Boise State. He will do good things in the Big Sky. His problem at Colorado was loyalty to his son.

Maier and Gubrud battling it out right now. Maier is up 21-13 in third. Their stats are comparable.
