Jackson State supplants UM with top FCS attendance

Jackson State* eclipsed UM in football attendance last fall by a few hundred souls. UM has led the FCS the past three years.

One tweet says their tickets are extraordinarily cheap. Another said they only had 4(?) home games last year(?). Anyway, this is an outrage.

Discussed earlier on another thread. Their per-game attendance was up because they did indeed play only four home games. One against Tennessee State was canceled due to weather ... lightning in the area, if I recall correctly.

Here's the quote from the other thread:

Per Game Average: JSU 24,770; UM 24,677 - JSU by 93
Season Total: JSU 99,079: UM 148,064 - UM by 48,985

I would take Montana as the leader, especially at our ticket prices.

In that conference, the “Classics” draw an incredible amount of fans....many of whom are primarily there to see the battle of the bands.

And well worth watching, BTW.

Agreed! These bands are NOT the UM 'Marching Band'. They put on a damn good show. :thumb:

I might be wrong, but I don't believe the Classics count as home attendance for either team.

So you couldn't praise one without taking a shot at another?

To point out the discrepancy between UM and these bands, for those who have only experienced the UM Marching Band performance, it may appear to be a shot. It appeared so to you.

Probably more competition for the Drum Line than there is for the starting QB position.

Had to do a little searching. Jackson, MS is the largest city in Mississippi with 165,000 people. Football is played in their 60,000+ seat stadium. Five home games scheduled. General Admission ticket prices: Season tickets were $254 or $376 depending on the section desired; Single game tickets were $80-86, depending on which game; They must be really proud of the Grambling State game, prices $109 or $148 depending on the section desired.
FYI.
