I think the most relevant question here is whether the Griz staff had one or more backup options in mind all along or if they would have preferred Britt to realistic remaining portal options.

If they were only comfortable losing Britt in a scenario where Tuttle transfers in, this would be the worst possible outcome. Tuttle only teased enough to chase Britt off, and then backed out.

However, if the staff knew all along that there was portal option B, C, D, etc. that they'd prefer over Britt anyways, then this is unfortunate but not devastating.

I think Britt was a good as gone just after mid-season mark...Glad he played the season out. Also, hope he doesn't land somewhere in the BSC as he has the potential to terrorize the Griz...

If you embrace the portal and use it too its full extent, you can really bring in some great guys and overhaul your roster and fill in needed gaps. If you turned your nose up at because you don't think its how the college game should work, your going to get buried.

Recruiting is a 365 day a year obligation for college coaches now. If UM started looking for next years QB via the portal after they lost their playoff game, they were already months behind.

I don't think that he would actually give you guys much trouble. As a Cat fan, I felt like a lot of Griz fans overrated him and his ceiling. I still say that even now that he's left.
