Jack Tuttle likely to Montana - per Lucas Semb / SIKE!

There Lucas put it out there. Seems like Michigan is interested. That’s pretty damn impressive and pretty big times if you ask me. And here we are wondering if he was good enough to play here…SMH

He would have been the real deal were he a ‘Montana Boy’, but we also hate any form of nepotism.

Hammer meet mail. You are spot on. I love our passionate fan base but to think a former four-star who was highly ranked, heavily recruited, started games in the Big Ten, beat a team like Wisconsin and was having a career day against Penn State before getting hurt, couldn’t do well here…..seriously what is wrong with our fan base??

WTF? What was all this “done deal” talk?
Lucas seems to be very quick to report things, which I guess is good, but in this case using those "done deal" words, but then leaving himself a backdoor "I didn't say officially" just seems like hack shit, to me.

Waiting for him to look up who is enrolled in the campus directory and reporting on students whose names are close Tate Forcier....err....Jack Tuttle. And then reporting as a done deal.

Yeah, the whole, “See, I wasn’t wrong!” BS is just that. Definitely would’ve gladly taken credit for breaking the news first if Tuttle ended up signing.

See, that’s real journalism.

"While the starting quarterback isn’t an issue for the Wolverines with J.J. McCarthy leading the charge, no longer does he have his primary competition. Last year’s starter, Cade McNamara, transferred to Iowa this offseason. Now another QB is in the NCAA transfer portal.

With Bowman departing, and Michigan not having a committed 2023 quarterback in this year’s recruiting cycle, the Wolverines very well could go back to the portal to find an experienced backup. At the moment, Davis Warren, the former walk-on, is the backup, and he’s appeared in six games, having thrown nine passes with five completions for 89 yards.

Having come aboard before the 2021 season, former Texas Tech starter Alan Bowman had the requisite experience the others on the roster didn’t have. But, he wasn’t able to supplant the aforementioned McNamara or get in the battle between McNamara and McCarthy this offseason. He’s opted to transfer, according to a report from the Detroit Free Press’ Rainer Sabin."

Returning starter was 65%, 20 TD's, 3 picks, and 155% rating. 60 runs, 4.2 average, 4 TDs.

I'm sure Lucas regrets the "done deal" phrase, but he's been a good addition to the local scene. He should probably own this one though. Acting like he wasn't too far out in front of it is a little silly. Rainey broke DB to the portal so he broke... something that didn't happen.

wonder why he would transfer to a school to be a back up and not to a school to be a starter?

From the Michigan insider at The Victors Club

QB Needs (prep or Transfer Portal)
Michigan’s needs are pretty low here, even if quarterback is by far the most popular position to pick up transfer portal players. The Wolverines have a quarterback they love in JJ McCarthy. While his sophomore stats — 2,378 passing yards, 65.3-percent completion rate, 155.4 passer efficiency rating — aren’t landing him on any All-American lists this season, the Wolverines love his blend of leadership that brings out the best in his teammates, and dynamic skill set that keeps defenders on their heels. Even if Michigan doesn’t fully cater the offense around throwing the ball next fall, he will be one of the nation’s 10 most talented quarterbacks next season. More importantly, he’s an undisputed leader of the team and agent of Michigan’s thriving culture.

Behind him, there is room for Michigan to add a backup quarterback if the right candidate emerged. Davis Warren is the expected No. 2, and reports from within the team seem encouraging, but he has just nine career pass attempts. Behind him, it’s Alex Orji and Jayden Denegal in terms of scholarship players, and they combined for one pass attempt as true freshmen this fall. If Michigan likes how those three progressed this offseason and is content standing pat, more power to the Wolverines. But history suggests that backup quarterback is quietly a very important position, and without a 2023 quarterback commitment, we wouldn’t question the Wolverines one bit if they sought out a backup.

The two likely categories of options would be an academic-minded veteran not offended playing behind McCarthy while they get a master’s degree, and an experienced leader if needed (such as what Alan Bowman in 2021-22), or an underclassman good enough to win some big games in case of emergency, as well as contend for a starting job after McCarthy’s departure.

This isn’t a dire need in our eyes, and may not be worth rocking the boat and losing another quarterback to the portal over. But if we were viewing Michigan as a championship-caliber NFL team, we would vouch for a pursuit of a backup quarterback with either meaningful experience or future-starter potential.

Need Rating: 3 out of 10.

Lucas Semb is not a good beat reporter. PERIOD. Jumps to conclusions via Twitter and his lack of knowledge regarding sports, and in particular football, shows dramatically. Also gets into verbal back-and-forth way too much.

I think he’s doing a great job and like that he interacts with the fans, and isn’t afraid to tell them to fuck right off.

I do like that about him, and he has been a lot more engaging than his predecessors online. It does at times feel like he's going more for engagement than news, though.
