What am I cattle? All along I thought I was a dang goat. Sheez, thanks for giving me the biology lesson.


As for breeding, I am not an english teacher, I am a History and Government teacher. God forbid that I would ever for get a dang o. Ooh sorry, I shall put myself in timeout for 15 minutes for my poor spelling.

Though right now I am using a english convention called sarcasm.

Nice to hear though that UofM was able to bring in Van Vilet, nice start to recruiting season. Keep it going Krysko.

PS: This wasn't or isn't smack, just responding to an earlier post. Sorry if was off topic, but the other two just won't let it go. My bad. I will shut up now.

If you are a Teacher, then you shouldn't bring yourself to respond to this ongoing immature subject matter. Let's get back to the topic at hand guys.
 
umdeez, grizwhiz, and griz24 should take it to the smackboard. Nobody cares about winter wheat, rednecks or spellcheck. Grow up.

On the topic of this thread-why would McGillis consider walking on for the Griz when he could do the same at UW. UW has a much stronger athletic and academic reputation, doesn't seem like much of a decision.

umdeez - Perhaps you should take your own advice. The word "don't" has an apostrophe in it. The word is not spelled "dont".

As for McGillis, I can think of one very good reason why he may consider walking on at the U of M instead of UW. How realistic do you think it is that he could earn a scholarship at UW (One of the top teams in the country) & see significant playing time? I think there's a much better shot of him earning a scholarship at the U of M & getting some playing time.

I do see why Kyrskowiak didn't offer him a scholarship this year (so far). We are pretty well off at the 3 right now, and will be for quite a while it seems. The two positions the Griz need to fill immediately would be the 4 & 5. McGillis isn't a 4 or a 5. We need at least one post player who can step up and play right away.

Coach K also is probably looking for a point guard if he's decided to use Matthews more at the 2 and 3 instead of at the point. It is handy that Virgil is such a versatile player and can play 3 different positions,

The Griz had -1 scholarships before Easley and Farr left. After Easley and Farr left they had one open scholarship available. Now that Lynch & McKay no longer have scholarships they have 3 available (Not 4 monthoops said). Van Vliet takes up one of those, and Coach K will most likely use the other 2 on a JC power forward & a point guard. This really doesn't leave anything for McGillis other than a spot for him to walk on and maybe get a scholarship after one year as a walk on. This isn't unusual either. Matt Dlouhy didn't have a scholarship his first year here, and neither did Criswell (if I remember right).
 
Dlouhy and Criswell came in as walk-ons. They both more than earned their scholarships. I think Dlouhy was Idaho's top division's player of the year before coming to the U of M. I sure hope McGillis is willing to come here on a similar basis. He would be keeping some pretty good company.
 
When the players didn't use a scholarship for that walk-on year, aren't they eligible for a 5th year scholarship to work on grad school if needed? I wonder if the coaches would allow that to happen?

I know Selvig does this for the women's program, but he also has 15 scholarships to work with as opposed to 13.
