It's time to fire Jerome Sauers

I've heard rumblings from inside the program that people aren't happy with Sauers. Until about 3 years ago they were fine with a .500 team. Now they expect playoffs. I guess this weekend they kept passing the ball and the QB kept throwing picks when they were running it down their throats. Guess we will see.

And no one is scoring on Wyo. Their D is legit.

I knew MSU and EWU had legit defenses

Oregon scored 48 points and gave up 556 yards and Lockie came in for Mariota with around 8 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, plus went 9/11 on third down.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Northern Arizona football coach Jerome Souers has received a four-year extension that puts him under contract through the 2018 season.

Souers is 93-88 in 16 seasons with the Lumberjacks. His 2013 team went 9-3 and made the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. His 2003 team won the Big Sky Conference title and made it to the FCS quarterfinals. His teams went 17-6 the past two seasons.

The contract is pending the approval of the Arizona Board of Regents.

Souers says the extension allows his program to build the foundation to support sustainable success.

His 2013 team was ranked as high as No. 8 and finished the season at No. 15 after a first-round playoff loss to South Dakota State.

I mean seriously, the winningest coach in NAU history, arguably one of the most beloved and respected men in all of Flagstaff, Arizona, but he just can't cut it, at leats by the Egriz rationale.

According to a HOST of Egriz experts last week, South Dakota would finish DEAD LAST in the Big Sky Conference. That was posted MORE than once last Saturday night. It's also been mentioned, even though the game was over a week ago, that Montana is a terrible football team BECAUSE it only scored 28 points against USD atrocious defense.

Well, The Jacks put up 20 and the last TD was a garbage time score. They let an equally inept USD squad post 28 on a nationaly-ranked FCS QUALITY defense. And Jerome is a defensive guru. So come on NAU, you have to let him go NOW. Do not wait until the end of the season, otherwise, you, Northern Arizona are not going to win a single game in the Big Sky this year. If USD would finish dead last in this league, then that MUST mean NAU will go 0 for in conference play this fall. But, at least, by Egriz standards, since Montana SQUEAKED by the Yotes, it means the Griz will AT LEAST finish one game ahead of NAU in the final conference standings. So the Griz have that going for them.

I think, after 10 years, I'm finally getting the hang of this Egriz stuff :thumb:

C'mon Hav. Don't let this place suck the life out of you. It's not worth it.You don't seem to be the same guy this season. You seem anxious and upset all the time. For my three years on this fan board, you've been the most fair, objective and fact based poster on egriz. You even
compliment the opposition's players on a regular basis. Which is kinda surprising given nobody else really ever does it in a big way. What happened? The lunacy of this place used to never get to you before......

Haha CV, I'm not too upset, but you're right, Egriz gets under my skin much more than I should let it. I always go into a new season promising myself not to let it, but then it just does. But really, I was just merely poking fun at the "Egriz" rationale of evaluating coaches. I know Jerome Sauers will be NAU as long as he wants to be there and he absolutely deserves to be, but by some Egrizzers rationale, he should be fired and hung in effigy after losing at USD. Just couldn't help myself I guess.

And you want to know what's really funny? I created this thread as a complete joke, YET, I've received two PM's from people who DO THINK NAU should fire Sauers. LOL.
