All this attitude and complaining seems about what most would have predicted when the beginning of this whole scandal took off.

Sanctions, bad press, horrible mismanagement of the scenario, no damage control....and on top of it a giant DBAG author decides to write a book basically bashing your schools entire culture.

Now were at the end of it, and people are kinda freaking the F out because of everything that has transpired over the last 4 years.

Hows that saying go? It always seems darkest before the dawn? Yaaa whats happened at UofM is a freaking case study for that.

Good post. And as many have pointed out, the actual results are pretty damn close to the "good ol days".

The 99 Youngstown loss was a home one and done too BTW. Classic mudpit game in Wash Griz. Griz had a chance to tie the game with :03 on a pretty short FG, and missed it.

So, 4 home playoff losses in 18 years. I don't recall many, if any, others in the 90's. I wonder if the total of home playoff games is 4. In about 25 years. Road playoff record, excluding national champ games, is not very good.

I attended 3 of those home losses (not CP). Very painful. Especially Furman. All of the ones I attended were good games.

I believe you meant to say Wofford rather than Furman. You aren't an idiot, just human.

Bringing civility to eGriz, one post at a time.

It's hilarious when you get picked apart over the use of the word "scandal" when giving an optimistic point of view for the future of grizzly athletics. Call it what you will. I don't give a shit either way.

It's amazing that you would use the word "scandal" and then not be able to say what the scandal was, or even try to. Use another word.

Uhhh, I didn't say anything about home games. I said one and dones. You mentioned home games, for what reason who the f*** knows.

In either event, there was a large number of both, losses on the road and losses at home. Seemingly to anyone who has played the game, first round road losses would be an indicator of a worse year since the team wasn't good enough to secure a home game. But then it's you, so....

You responded to my post, and commented on it; in fact, doubted it. My post said playoff games at home, not on the road. See below. You then recited playoff losses on road. See below. Noticed that you blew your comment on basketball wins too. You are almost as bad at stats and facts as Growler.

PR: How many? Virtually none where the first playoff game was at home.

Everett: Really?

1997: One playoff game, a loss at McNeese
1998: One playoff game, a loss at West Ill (by 43 incidentally)
1999: One playoff game, a loss at Youngstown

....

Siiiiigh.

You responded to MY post initially, in which I said the people forget how many one and dones the Griz have had. You then inexplicably added "home" games; no one knows why.

I then clearly and objectively pointed out that in fact there have been a number of both HOME and away first round losses.

Again, my sincere apologies to the board for having to have these types of conversations with pr repeatedly.

A big difference is that I didn't diss your post. You dissed mine. Learn to read and write more carefully. It will help avoid these types of discussions.

I think people are concerned because of the huge collapse of the football team in the last half of the season and particularly in the last 2 games, the overall weak season and no playoff birth, questions about the coach and some of his staff, the record of the basketball team and inability to hold leads, recent losses to the Cats in mens and women's hoops, loss to Cats in football at home, and the horrible record of the women's basketball (yes, significantly impacted by several key injuries, but also at the time that the longtime great coach retired). And some posters and people have been predicting the problems with the football team for a year or longer--whether they are right or wrong or lucky. Soccer was okay. Volleyball with 5-21 with at least one loss to Cats. Softball is 5-9. Academic center being built. Football schoolies coming back for next recruiting season. Where else is the good news?
.

Well, it took awhile and my apologies to the board, but it appears we now agree there were a great number of one and dones even during the "glory years" and that the actual records and results of the past few years are really quite similar to those back in the good ol' days.

Again, my apologies for taking up so many posts, and also my apologies to those for whom the facts don't fit their agenda-driven narrative.

As for basketball, it'd be difficult to find a better 10 year stretch in the 100 year history of the program.

Not difficult at all....

2007/08 - 2016/17: 196-116 .628
1973/74 - 1996/97: 467-223 .676 (Take your pick of which 10 years of the 24)

1997/98 - 2016/17 (20 years) btw....351-256 .578
Now if you had said last 8 years.... 165-88 .651 BUT still not as good as that 24 year run.

Prior to 1973.....hard to find a 10 year stretch where we were over .500 very much.

Yes, those were good stretches. But how many BSC titles and NCAA trips during that period?

And again, I didn't say it was impossible, but rather suggesting that UM basketball has been pretty damn good lately.

Don't you know the Big Sky was tougher then! lol

Oops, my bad. I should have just said South Carolina. And La La Land got best picture, right? Thx.

No, we don't agree, and certainly don't agree that current results are similar to the old days. In the old days, the football team won the conference most of the time and went to the playoffs every year. UM went to national championship game 5 times in 10 years or less. The Griz beat the Cats in football more consistently. When was the last time football finished 6th in the conference? In men's hoops, when was the last time UM had a losing record at this point of the season? When was the last time the women's hoops team was 5-22 at this point of the season?

I truly can't believe you would even insinuate the UM current results are close to the glory years. Don't know what world you are living in.

Pointing out that some posters, who post incorrect stuff, and who can't back up what they say, is not being petty.
