While this year's team has flaws, I do think they are a very good team. They have been in every game until late with chances to win. Yes, they haven't finished. But sometimes finishing includes a bit of good fortune or mistakes by the other team.
There's been a lot of games in the past that went the Griz way that very well could have gone the other way. It's probably just the law of averages catching up in a big chunk this year.
Remember...
Yo Humphery fumbling in overtime against EWU...not called a fumble and Griz went on to score the winning TD. The fumble was recovered by the Eagles and should have ended the game in their favor.
The very very fortunate spot on a fourth down play against Cal Poly in a game ending winning drive. Ryan Bagley caught the ball past the marker, then gave ground on his own behind the sticks, where he was tackled. The line judge gave him forward progress even though he had backtracked on his own.
Damon Parker's interception (TD return to win the game) of a pitch by Ricky Ray as Sacramento State was trying to convert a third down and 2 that would have enabled them to run out the clock. He had the first down and didn't even have to pitch it.
