Dave Dickenson has numbers most of y'all couldn't get in a year on Madden. He's in the CFL Hall of Fame (a league that no Griz player has played a game in 7 years), he's Sports Illustrated's Montana Athlete of All Time. He's the Big Sky's greatest player and athlete of all time. Shut your mouth and tip your cap when you mention the Legend of The Falls.

Craig Ochs was more physically gifted. That’s not really debatable. Bigger, faster, stronger, bigger arm. Dickensons stats were much better, although he did play in an offense that produced a lot more production.
Hasheem Thabeet was more physically gifted than Vlade Divac. Sorry, go to the kitchen the grown ups are talking.

As someone who attended CU games Och's Freshman year, Ochs had more physical talent. Dickenson got the most out of his talent.
Plus, we'll never know, what each would've done in the other's system. Dickenson definitely played in the most QB friendly system.

Okay, gotta ask, what do you mean "physical talent"? Whom ever plays best has the most "physical talent". Is a receiver who is super quick more physically talented than a guy who caught the ball?.

While Dave is the legendary standard by which all Griz qb’s are judged and the deliverer of the 1st championship, Ochs had more talent, higher ratings, physical gifts, etc. FFS, he was a 4 star recruit and the 7th ranked qb in class of 2000. The 6 qbs in front of him signed with Florida, Mich St, Texas, Tennessee, Auburn and Florida St. Ochs might have gone down in Griz history had he played 4 years in the Air Bear offense. But given he was only around for two years, often injured and running the Hauck offense we’lll never know. Anyone who watched him play knew he was different than any other qb we’ve had.

His god given abilities were superior you retard. Dickenson would agree with that I’m certain. They played in different systems with different teams, not sure how you can be certain Dickenson was better simply because of his record stats. Is Kase Keenan the best college football QB of all time because he had insane stats or is there context that says otherwise?
That’s the great thing about comparing eras in sports. Nicklaus has 18 majors. TW has 15. Nobody with two eyes and a brain thinks prime Jack was better than prime Tiger. If he does believe so, at the very least, he can hopefully admit that Tiger was more talented.
The temporal window is narrower in the instant comparison, for sure. But, talent and production can be very different things for myriad reasons.

Ochs would hold every Griz passing record if he had played in DDs offense.
Yeah this was a tad harsh, should have leaned into my Canadian roots and be kinder and gentler. I will try again. Dave Dickenson was insanely gifted athlete, he is the best QB to every play in the Big Sky, let alone the U of M. Craig Ochs checked lots of boxes and was a very good QB for the Griz, I have him in my top 5. My point is only that everything but the "eye test" points to Dickenson and it isn't close.

Ochs played half as much as DD, a year and a half to three. A full three years for Ochs would build his "eye test" significantly.
And Dickenson would have won 4 NC's and gone undefeated if he had Ochs supporting cast. I love a good hypothetical.
