It was a nice win

The Griz pass defenders need to get more of those close interceptions. Hauck mentioned that to Gradney in the press conference.

In order for the Griz to go on a big run, the Griz need more big catches by receivers and fewer drops; more almost interceptions that are interceptions; more good throws downfield; fewer penalties; more good and great tackles; continued improvement by the QB's; and I assume more good blocks (I don't watch the o-line a lot, tho). Probably more good and great calls by the coaches too. All of this is doable.

It's one game at a time for improvement, and for wins, for me. I'm hopeful, but the Griz are far from dominant and consistent. Dominant at time, though. The team seems to be fairly healthy at this time.

I understand that. He got the penalty for driving him into the ground. They’re all taught that when the ball is out, you let off. He continued for several yards and drove the QB into the ground, injuring the QB. Driving the QB into the ground is what got the penalty.

Objectively, if that same play happened to Ah Yat, a lot of people here would call it dirty. Wilson’s head was up the entire time, like it should be, he saw the ball get out of the QB’s hand. It was a stupid play.
I wouldn't be calling it a dirty play if it happened to Ah Yat exactly the same way.

What was the first penalty on Griz. Looked like false start by WC o-line? I thought I heard ref say delay of game on Griz. On tv, Marty said something about WC having talked to refs about something like this before game. I know that the D can't intentionally says things that cause the O to move, or something like that.

The long PI in NE corner against no. 2 was a marginal call too. The ref behind the play threw the flag first. He didn't have the best view. After he threw the flag, the ref in back of end zone, with a better throw, threw his belatedly. On the other hand, I can understand the call.

The PI no-call in the SW end zone seemed correct to me, but I wondered. I thought the ball was over and beyond the receiver when the minor contact occurred.

The PI call going south in front of the WC bench, where the ball was way over the receiver's head and way out of bounds, was total BS too. If the ball wasn't being thrown away, it was an awful throw.

These refs seemed to make some calls based on what they thought might have happened, or what could have happened. They seemed to make up their minds before the play ended. The refs didn't do WC any favors either.

The d-backs made some very good hits after catches, but the WC receivers hung onto the ball. Kudos to them.

The Griz miss having Meyer on the field. I don't think he played.

I agree that when you make a hit (with a lot of momentum and on time) and are falling forward, QB falling backward, how are you supposed to stop? I suppose he could have released his arms but that wasn't going to prevent him from landing on the QB. It was unfortunate but football is a rough sport.

I completely agree with you. This is exactly what I saw in real time and on tape. On the other hand, I can see why the call could have been made. That's why I called it BS, as opposed to the wrong/bad call. I knew that you and I were going to agree on something sometime. Ha.

Lee had a whale of a game, led all tacklers and had a QBH. Marty was calling him the “sweeper” because he cleans up

Saw Meyer this time and he was dressed but don’t think he played.

Don’t remember seeing Gordon for some reason, but I was not looking for him so maybe that was just me. Seemed like the safeties included a combo of Lee, Rostad, Rausch, and Klucewich

That is wrong, dropped his helmet as he got to the QB.

The helmet to the chin is when the flag was thrown.
But there was almost no helmet to chin contact. It was very minor and light. The flag was thrown because the slight contact caused the head to go back. In my view, as a former player who tackled a lot, such minor contact should not be targeting. I understand why the flag was thrown. I just disagree with the rule.

4th quarter 9:00 #42 lowered his helmet just before he got to the QB and hit chin and face mask. The reason rule was put in.

I think they really need to explore the crown. I watched it over multiple times and I don’t know how Wilson could have buried his facemask into Gonzales sternum more squarely in the numbers with a solid wrap up. It was tipped down slightly but it certainly wasn’t crown. Nor was it to the head or neck.

Eventually tackle football will become flag football and not a contact sport at the rate we are changing this game. It’s truly a joke.

Wolf, I completely agree with you

To be clear, both of the flags thrown on Riley Wilson were obvious calls. The first play was pretty dirty in my opinion
Disagree. 1st play assume he didn’t know the QB had thrown the ball.
2nd play was literally a textbook tackle.

On a side note: The refs/league need to figure out WTF PI is. Because what they DO and DON’T call PI is all over the fucking board. Frustrating as hell…
