It’s time to move up to the FBS the Mountain West preferably.

None of those teams EVER had the kind of fan support Montana has.

And why does every always assume we'd lose? I don't get that. Like they're gonna make us move up and only play with 63 schollies or something.

And I'd bet $10,000 that there will be a playoff system at the G5 level within 5 years. The bowl games will either be incorporated in, or be relegated to teams 13 and beyond who don't make the playoffs each year.
I expect people to pile on here so do your worst. When I hear the words “ play in some worthless bowl game”…. I got news for ya, the fcs championship game is NO DIFFERENT than the liberty, motor city, Poulan weedeater, holiday, sun, or Frosted Flakes bowl games.. or the countless other bowl games. They are all the same.at the end of the day, whomever wins those games walks away with a cotton t shirt and hat that reads “insert name of game here” champions

Nope, not true at all. Your comment is out to lunch.

Explain the difference between the Orange Bowl game and the fcs championship game? They are technically both “bowl” games and the winning teams walk away with a trophy and t shirt that reads champions. Sure the fcs game is for the championship of the subdivision but we all know the “champions” of the Orange Bowl game would knock the tits out of the fcs “champion”. Nothing is meaningless to the players so when fans say they don’t want to see their team play in a meaningless bowl game, there is no such thing unless you are a fan that judges their worth by others accomplishments.

So, the winner of the college football playoff is just another bowl game winner!
For that matter, so is the super bowl.

Got it.

Didn’t say that. What I am saying is for those fans that don’t want their FCS favorite teams to move up and play “ in some meaningless bowl game”, for those who categorize the holiday bowl, motor city bowl or any other number of bowl games as meaningless, then isn’t the FCS title game meaningless too in the grander scheme of college football? In my opinion it’s a bigger achievement to win the gator bowl at the fbs level than to win the fcs title. To each their own but there is no such thing as a meaningless bowl game to coaches and players. Wouldn’t it be a much bigger accomplishment if the Griz beat any Power Four team in the Tater Tots bowl than beating Tarleton St in the FCS championship game???

I read your post. When you break it all down though, a national champion is a national champion. I have seen bozeman win two of them on television, the Griz one and a second I was there for. I wouldn't walk across the street to watch the famous idaho potato bowl, but if that's what you want on your t-shirt, find the money to move up. Just remember, it's a table for two, we don't go without the scats, that has been made clear, so total cost might be around $100 million.

I would just like Montana to be proactive and not hang back getting stuck reacting when the P4 takes their ball and leaves the rest of FBS behind. I want Montana to take the initiative to get into the group that will become the second level of college football and have a hand in molding it into a solid home instead of holding their breath that they can find a place after the fact. A playoff will come, the money won't bury the athletic department.

The FCS championship is not the same as a bowl game. A championship means you are the best team in the division of say 125 teams. A bowl win means you beat one team. Don’t be silly.

Well, your opinion is wrong.

Montana will have zero influence on any new such division no matter what Montana does.

So you would take more pride in beating Tarleton St than a Power 4 team??? Of course you would.

I agree on both but surely you would take more pride in beating a P4 team over any fcs team ?
The win over Washington was pretty cool. A lot of people say it's the biggest win in program history.

I call it number three, right after Marshall and Furman. There is nothing like winning a championship, but like you said, your opinion differs from mine.

Fair enough and I agree winning a championship is awesome. To me there is no material difference if the Griz win the fcs championship or win the Tater Tots bowl game against an FBS P4 or Group of 5 team. Well there would be one big difference, the Tater Tots paycheck will have more commas and zeros on it.
