ISU's Coach Oliver steps down

Who could blame Coach Oliver? When you have to hide your team out of town to avoid confrontations with the football team then it is time to get out. I don't think he will have any problem getting a good job.

Kind of feel for ISU. All four losses could have been wins. Me thinks the new AD ran him out of town, though, looking at his win-loss record, its probably time.

Sacto,

I don't know if you are aware of all the stuff going on in Pokey, but I don't think he is getting run at all. Who in their right mind wants to be in an environment like that. Can you imagine if Coach Jenkins had to hide his team in a Motel in, say, Marysville, because Coach Mooshagians players wanted to fight them? That is what is going on down there.

Backer, that crap happend over a 2-3 week period in September. There's no excuse for it, don't get me wrong. The only reason it was brought up again recently (last month) is the local Poky paper conducted a "2 month investigation" to find out what really happened. They didn't uncover a single thing which wasn't already uncovered. Can you say "sensationalism?"

Oliver's time is up. He has a lousy win-loss record, and he has a very complaceent attitude. He chose to play money games and lose big prior to conference season in previous seasons because "the Big Sky won't get any at-large bids anyway." He lost exhibition games to NAIA schools, and then said "no big deal, it doesn't matter anyway." He has killed fan interest. Check out ISU's attendance over the last few years. We were drawing around 4,000 a game prior to his arrival, but now draw 2,000 and less under Oliver.

He thinks it's ridiculous that Fullerton wants teams to buck up and play a harder schedule to improve RPI (and NCAA seeding), because "we just lose in the first round of the tournament no matter who we play."

Doug Oliver is a nice guy, but he thought he could use the Big Sky as a quick stepping stone. It didn't work.

Didn't hear about that stuff....but, that and loses are probably the icing on the cake on his career there in Poky.

Check it out for yourself

this is just a couple of the stories, I couldn't find the link where the coach had to move them to a motel out of town, I do know that BSC Commish Doug Fullerton had to approve the $$$ spent so it wasn't considered an NCAA Violation as silly as that sounds
