Idaho State to play Washington for first time
Pocatello, ID (Sports Network) - The Idaho State football team will visit the University of Washington in 2013 in a first-ever meeting between the two programs.

The game, announced Tuesday, will be played at Husky Stadium on Sept. 21, 2013.

Idaho State, from the Big Sky Conference, is trying to raise its program under second-year coach Mike Kramer. The Bengals finished 2-9 last season.

They kick off this season on Sept. 1 at Air Force.

Man I am glad UM is through with the days of a "needed" ass kicking to generate money.

True, but the kids really enjoy the opportunity of playing BCS level schools. I enjoy watching it as a fan. I wish we played a FBS level opponent at least once every year.

Guess the scare they got from EWU made them figure they'd better go a bit deeper into the conference this time around....

They've got PSU on the slate this year, and EWU again in 2014.

No kidding. UW only added the FCS teams because BYU kept beating them in non-conference. UW would have NEVER scheduled these games with Willingham, for fear of losing.

Isn't Idaho State opening their season against USAF? A pretty good preparatory game against Black Hills State before they go to Nebraska, I guess.

ISU is in the "two money games" per year mode, probably permanently. "Game guarantees" is one of the two or three largest "revenue" categories for both the football and basketball teams -- far ahead of ticket sales, for example.
