1. ISU is terrible. Either Bozeman high school team might beat them.
2. Neither QB is D1 caliber. They just aren't, and NO ONE on the Griz staff can elevate them.
3. The scheme is broken.
4. The Griz have the same o-line they had last year when they could not beat the good teams.
5. Griz will win...see #1.
I disagree just a little here. I think, watching Vidlak live, he actually CAN develop into what is needed for the Griz at the QB position. When given time, he made good passes. He had a few stinkers too, but that is a little lack of game experience. He did lock in on his #1 less than many on here seemed to have said in the past. When he had time, I saw him look at 2nd and even 3rd receiver some. If he had a good OL, and had time, I think it would do wonders for his development. Now, as far as QB2, I agree 100% he isn't a D1 QB, but that''s based on throws I have seen on TV only. As far as RUNNING AN OFFENSE", absolutely he can do that at this level. Playing QB doesn't mean throwing always, and he absolutely could get Griz wins if he was in there. I think he should start this week, run the run game, pound ISU, and then get Vidlak some throwing reps. Mix them in. It's actually OK. Gives the defense something else to think about. 3 and 4 above, 100% agree with you. I would add, though...it should say "schemes". That means all of it! hahaha.
#5 above, I also agree, but more like 98%. I'd like to see how they come out of the tunnel. Are they focused, or forced? That will say a lot.
You may very well be right about Vidlak and you are not the only one who believes this. Some have compared him to Ochs, which I think is a very, very big stretch.
Even if he DOES have the potential to develop - who do you think will do so? Who exactly is the QB mentor for the Griz.
I suppose that may be an even bigger problem.
