ISU Thought

IT DOES NOT MATTER.

1. ISU is terrible. Either Bozeman high school team might beat them.

2. Neither QB is D1 caliber. They just aren't, and NO ONE on the Griz staff can elevate them.

3. The scheme is broken.

4. The Griz have the same o-line they had last year when they could not beat the good teams.

5. Griz will win...see #1.

I disagree just a little here. I think, watching Vidlak live, he actually CAN develop into what is needed for the Griz at the QB position. When given time, he made good passes. He had a few stinkers too, but that is a little lack of game experience. He did lock in on his #1 less than many on here seemed to have said in the past. When he had time, I saw him look at 2nd and even 3rd receiver some. If he had a good OL, and had time, I think it would do wonders for his development. Now, as far as QB2, I agree 100% he isn't a D1 QB, but that''s based on throws I have seen on TV only. As far as RUNNING AN OFFENSE", absolutely he can do that at this level. Playing QB doesn't mean throwing always, and he absolutely could get Griz wins if he was in there. I think he should start this week, run the run game, pound ISU, and then get Vidlak some throwing reps. Mix them in. It's actually OK. Gives the defense something else to think about. 3 and 4 above, 100% agree with you. I would add, though...it should say "schemes". That means all of it! hahaha.
#5 above, I also agree, but more like 98%. I'd like to see how they come out of the tunnel. Are they focused, or forced? That will say a lot.

You may very well be right about Vidlak and you are not the only one who believes this. Some have compared him to Ochs, which I think is a very, very big stretch.

Even if he DOES have the potential to develop - who do you think will do so? Who exactly is the QB mentor for the Griz.

I suppose that may be an even bigger problem.

hahaha...now THAT's the question! He will be a complete bust unless the OL is developed first. I truly believe that SOME of the QB issues throughout the last few years is a direct result of OL play. They get happy feet and then can't complete anything. Happens at every level. For example...I actually don't think Zach Wilson is a bad QB. He has the skills. His mindset is gunslinger, which I like some...Favre, Josh Allen...but the Jets OL is hot garbage and anyone you put back there is going to suck balls. The reason that they had any hope with Rodgers is that he is so quick to release it and his experience would get them wins. That said, Vidlak has tools...just hope the coaches didn't break him.

Um, by listening to this, It sounds like the players are to blame. "didn't execute" is said a lot. omg...

Anyone ever heard the term 'Eyeball Triage?'
It's your ER Nurse looking a presenting patient and mentally assessing how he/she looks. Good. Bad. Like sh*t. Malingerer. Drug seeker. First impression before actual assessment.

I see the games on TV. First thing I look for is aluminum, aka how many are actually there in their seats. Considering there was record on line participation during and after the 'game,' almost exclusively negative or much worse, I wonder how many will decide NOT to attend the ISU game. A lot of this fan base is understandably p*ssed. Season ticket holders might want to contact Haslam and see if he would like to buy back your unused tickets. Years ago, Dick O'Day did so. Just a thought. I'll be in my recliner with my Aluminum Meter evaluating the crowd.

We all know that ISU isn’t that good of a team. Beginning of the season I would have put this down as a 2nd string for the 4th quarter kind of game. I have a bad feeling after the NAU game. I think ISU goes up early, takes the crowd out of the game and wins 31-24. Bobby seat gets really hot after this one.

Just watched the ISU/UNC game last night. Gonna be a long game for UM. ISU has a competent offense. Sadly, I think this years Griz team might be a cellar dweller Big sky conference team. We may finish right above cal poly. Literally every offense looks better than ours.

just watching the highlights i predict at least a couple if interceptions by our safeties and a lot of yards for ostmo or gillman

I don't have confidence our offense can keep up with theirs if it becomes a shootout. Hopefully our defense shows up better then against NAU

My thought is if Hauck doesn't come out with McDowell as the starter against ISU then Hauck simply refuses to see what we are all seeing and is pushing his agenda

Bobby's going to do whatever he wants despite all the real expert advice on Egriz (including mine). A win against ISU should happen on Saturday, despite Bobby's bullheadedness.

Question: after watching NAU “highlights” against Utah Tech, could you have imagined ANY scenario where the Griz rushed for a whopping EIGHTEEN yards in the entire game? Against an 0-3 team in shambles that had just lost big to a team we crushed?

I rewatched that game, and I am just not seeing the same thing as you, to be honest. And Vidlak has some great balls, some drops, and some bad decisions. He isn't ready for prime time, I don't think, but I'm not seeing the same difference in explosiveness out of the offensive line that you are.

I must be wrong but when McDowell was in there were holes suddenly opened up for running and Ostmo was suddenly able to get to the outside.
To me it looked like NAU wasn't ready for McDowell but they were for Vidlak
Such a small sample size from which it's impossible to draw conclusions, but you try. McDowell was credited with one pass for 3 yards and no rushes. Ostmo had 2 carries for the game for a net -1 yard. So how was NAU not ready for McDowell? So stick with your first statement.
