The game is @ 3 p.m. tomorrow? Guess I'll have to skip the Griz-Cat fb game.

Looks like Miami of Ohio. They're up by 14 with about 7 minutes to play.
My alma mater! :) The redhawks! Go Griz!

Miami,Oh had THE highest female/male ratio in the country when I was considering colleges, and that stat made me double-take. It was like 60/40 female/male back then. It wasa heavy nursing school I wanna say. I doubt the disparity is that great anymore.

Sucks Akoh is out, but I don't think it's a long term thing. Looking at cup half full, Anderson getting some spin is great and will pay big dividends over the course of the season.

I have no inside knowledge but just by listening to DeCuire's post-game chat, I read into that Akoh's issue could be lingering and this is THE year (for the Griz and especially DeCuire) and no expense is gonna be spared. And I don't necessarily disagree. This is the year we've been building for-we gotta play all our cards this year. Travis definitely doesn't plan to be in Missoula come Anderson's Senior year for sure, so burning his eligibility means nothing to him. Again, I don't blame him really. He needs to have an impressive record, get to the NCAA's and he'll perhaps get a $500,000+ raise, so it's no surprise he's gonna empty the cupboard this year.

A rumble of a game... 54 total fouls called (Miami 28, Griz 24). Montana shot a mediocre 69% from the FT line (18-26) compared to Miami's 28-33 (84%). Free throws basically kept Miami in the game & so it was a nice turnabout when Sayeed Pridgett netted two free throws with 1.2 seconds remaining to give Montana the 73-71 win.

Ahmaad Rorie was the late minutes star, however, nailing 3 treys in the final 3-4 minutes, including a 30-ft dagger (see replay below) with 16 sec. remaining to give the Griz a 71-69 lead.

The Griz were seriously out-manned & out-muscled in the paint, losing the rebounding battle 33-22, so it was up to Montana's perimeter game where Montana's second half was golden, converting 7-10 shots for treys... and a game final percentage of 47.4%, and 50% from the field overall. Donaven Dorsey and Kendal Manuel provided critical punch, hitting a combined 5-for-9 from 3-pt range. Manuel had several slashing drives for buckets as well. Besides losing the ft comps and the rebounding battle, Montana won every other statistical category.

Frosh posts Mack Anderson and Kelby Kramer played hard, but are still learning & took some lumps from the 3 Miami horses in the paint.

Final analysis, a very good win for a team absent their senior post leader Akoh.

It is going to burn this team sooner and later and later again if they continue to miss every FT attempt.

Freethrows have been a problem for the past few years including in the clutch. Until someone else proves themselves to be an excellent freethrow shooter, I think Rorie should have the ball at the end of games (particularly close games) as much as possible.

Nice summary shamed!

I've read that this disparity has continued to grow nationwide, and now females make up 60 percent or more of all undergrads in the US. So Miami could be up towards two-thirds. Who knows.

Griz play Georgia Southern at 6:00 PM, MST for championship on Sunday. GS beat Pepperdine 88-78. GS is 4-0 and Griz are 3-0.

I know we've played GSU in some memorable fb games, but this has to be our first b-ball matchup. Nobody involved with the b-ball program (with the possible exception of Travis) can recall or relate to the hatred Griz fans had for that program, but they will always be one of the least-respected/most-hated schools to me personally. They treated the Griz like SH*T (both on and off the field) when we travelled to Statesboro for a playoff game. The Griz had to wear their helmets on the sidelines at all times because of constant spit and/or debris hurled at the players and they tried to play mind-games with us off-the-field too. My friends on the team said no other stadium/fans came close to how disgusting their fans treated us, and I, for one, haven't forgot. Beat those redneck Eagles!

They beat George mason earlier in the year by 9, after being down 20 at half. Griz will need to play a full game.

If we want to become an elite mid-major team, we need to beat the Georgia Southerns of the world, and we need to expect to beat them. I think we can.

Pretty much every university has way more females to males today.

Except for the military academies, I would guess. Montana Tech might be an exception, as well. But you are right, females probably outnumber males at 98 percent of all higher ed schools.

It was interesting, a few years ago I was helping my sons look for financial aid to college. Looked through a lot of catalogs at scholarships that might be available. Saw many devoted strictly to females. Didn't see any targeted only at males. (of course some are available to both sexes). Anyway, might be one factor in growing disparity of males/females in college.

You are right. Techs and military academies still have more males than females. But, it is only some techs.

Edit: My belief is that boys/men today are not taught nor (for white males) want to be taught how to function in today's world. Shit. read A River Runs Through It and then compare it to the typical male today.

Edit: I'm not saying males today should be like then. But, I am saying that males today don't care. They expect a living.

You mean they are what is called in today's parlance, "pajama boys"? There are many out there.

Not sure they account for the decline of males in higher ed. But the role of males is changing in today's world, as you say.

Some would say for the better. But a lot of them don't, as you suggest, seem to want to take responsibility.

Ugh. No. Men that go to college now are our future. It's too bad that our society discounts knowledge.

Not sure what the ratio is now at Tech, but I see more and more females in the oilfield every year. When I was there it was 90% male, but I seem to recall it was down to only 60% 10 years ago or so, thanks to some other programs being added to help diversify. I bet geology in general now is close to 50-50. Males can earn 6 figures in the oilfield now, without going to college. Why bother.
