Is this possible?

Is it possible that the Griz got beat by a very good (and improving) team with a great QB, and that that team got very hot in the second half, played very well, tired out the Griz D, had the determination to keeping working and fighting come back and win, and did? Is it possible that the Griz coaches didn't get grossly outcoached and blow it? Is it possible that, at this point of the season, and with UM having a new redshirt frosh qb in his first start, that EWU is a better team than the Griz?

Was just wondering.

I wondering if we should wait to fire the coach and the DC until later in the season. What if a miracle occurred and they started winning?

Eastern would have won even if the Griz had Reese under center. They are simply a better team than the Griz and have been for the better part of a decade now. Even in Missoula. Even with a new coaching staff. Even with the loss if their all-world receivers. The Griz got beat by a better team. The way they lost sucked, but it is what is. No one's getting fired yet. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how the year plays out.

Maybe. I think the Griz would have won with Phillips.

It is most certainly possible that UM can get beat by a better team, but that's not what happened last Saturday. The Griz got beat by a better coaching
staff!

EWU made adjustments both offensively and defensively. We did not. That screen that has been so well discussed must have been run a dozen times successfully! I did not see any adjustment in coverage on any of them.
EWU adjusted their speed of play. We did not.

Adjustments both at the half and on in-game situations are an integral part of the game, and this staff is either unable or unwilling to do so.

I am not an insider, but I did play the game a bit, back when dinosauers ruled the earth, and adjustments were a big part of the strategy, as they are in any endeavor.

I don't agree.

My question is it possible to have a WR who can't catch play on the secondary?
L. Taylor has been struggling to get playing time with the depth of WRs. He is fast and plays on the special teams so he can takle.
With the injuries on the secondary he might find a new position like Ralston who played lights out. Get the great athletes on the field.

If this was the 1st time we witnessed a game like this, I would probably give the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt. But...... This has happened way too many times for this to be a fluke game.

When? Don't recall any games like this?

I do not remember anything like this happening to the Griz in Missoula. Closest thing I can think of is the 2009 South Dakota State game when the Griz rallied in the second half. EWU was on a similar roll on Saturday. Even though there have been some disappointing losses over the last few years, I don't think we have seen this in Missoula for decades, if ever.

I'm frustrated like most are but the season is not over yet, been dented but not over. I like most of the players that the current staff has brought in as I think most are or at least seem to be. Lets not forget, and I'm not trying to give Stitt a free pass, but remember we were shorted 12 scholarships over the last three years, four per year. We went back to full scholarships just this year if I remember. Put 12 full ride scholarship players on the field, would that not maybe make some difference. I bet Stitt and company more than once wished they could have picked up a certain kid but just could not offer a ride and had to make some hard choices. I wish the current staff all the success in the world, this is only in our best interest as fans as well as the players of course. If the team could play like they did in the first half of last weeks game I think we could see some great things yet this year. I don't really think there is an overly dominant team just yet in the Big Sky, that should emerge in the next few weeks. I still think the Griz could be one of them. Sorry, I'm just a glass half full kind of guy. It goes without saying the next two road games will be huge for this team and its fan base.

Great points. People also forget, three would-be veteran DB's transferred out for various reasons. Manu Rasmussen, Jerrin Williams and Chris Parker.

I know many "predicted" a Griz win last weekend on the prediction thread.

Some of them certainly didn't believe it would happen. I didn't. #11 in the Nation, culture of winning, FCS leading QB, improving defense...ewu was and is the better team.

Next 2 games are far more telling in my opinion. Let's see some improvement. Let's see if Stitt has established a framework to win on the road.

What galls me is that Montana had a "culture of winning." There was a time... Not to get into that glory days thread, but it's frustrating to the nth degree to see the Griz not have a "culture of winning" anymore.

Don't know if I've ever said this, but thank you for your service!

Pretty sure Parker was cut by the coaching staff.

Sorry, I should have worded that better. I was just talking about how this coaching staff has been losing a lot of games lately and i don't see it changing anytime soon.

irst post. I think it's possible.

How many times do I have to post until I can upload a profile pic? Is there a place on the eGriz forums where I can post this question? I don't seem to be able to send a message to the admin without any posts by my profile. The last time I tried to be on an online forum was on TGR in 2008, I started a thread to ask about allowing a larger file size for the profile pic and it turned into a dozen guys trying to be funny guys and me posting animated gifs I'd made to defend myself for 20 or so pages with over 10,000 views before I deleted the thread. I want to add eGriz to my regular interneting so I have more to talk about regarding the Griz with my husband. We have both been attending Griz games our whole lives. eGriz is mentioned a lot in conversations about the Griz by my family of origin and extended family so being active on here could give me more to talk about with all of them. I was likely in classes with the founder/admin of eGriz because I followed the link to his Twitter, learned his name and looked him up on LinkedIn and we have the same degree from UM from the same period of years. I would have just used my name as a username but my husband asked me to remain anonymous.

Welcome Angel. Always good to have more posters from the distaff side.

I don't believe there's a post limit to uploading a pic. Just needs to be within the allowable size.

I think we all hoped the Griz were "back". And even when Phillips went down, we hoped, maybe more than believed, that a red shirt Freshman in his first start could beat an excellent team picked at
or near the top of the conference. Well, the Griz are not back. So the question becomes, are they improving? On offense definitely, and the recruiting classes look good on paper. This season could still produce as many as eight or as few as 5 wins IMO. If it's the latter, this board will be aflame with calls for Stitt's head. It probably should be. But a gradual return to excellence should be acceptable. If Stitt's contract is renewed, 2018 and especially 2019 and 2020 with Jensen at QB and continued good recruiting could be a lot of fun. I understand if you want to object to showing so much patience'. Just my :twocents

I think many really have concerns with defense. Offense is improving and recruits look very good, but If defense holds the team back Stitt might earn another year or so if he makes a change in defensive coaches. Offense wins games (or as we saw eith EWU) but defense wins championships. If degense continues on the path since last year late season he Stitt will be in big trouble if changes won't be made. Let's hope defense improves so the bridge won't need crossed. It would be best outcome for all....Stitt, players and fans (not to mention D coaches)
