Is the North Dakota game a conference game?

I know they’re no longer in the Big Sky, but is it still being counted as a conference game since the schedule was drawn up that way however long ago? Just wondering if it has any bearing on determining conference standings.

Yes, those games count in the standings for the UND opponents. Case in point: Go to the Big Sky standings on ESPN ... http://www.espn.com/college-football/standings/_/view/fcs

You will not see North Dakota listed under the Big Sky. They are listed as an FCS Independent (they are 3-2). However, you will see that Idaho State is sitting at 2-0 in conference … because they beat UND and NAU. Conversely, NoColo is at 0-2 because they lost to UND and Weber State.

Kinda dumb way to do it, but actually simple enough when you know the "formula."

It's the bsc, so it counts. But it doesn't count. It's a conference game, but it isn't. Sort of. I just don't understand where the confusion lies.

Just to add to the fun.

North Dakota, although they play a full slate of 8 Big Sky games, is not eligible for the conference auto-bid.

They are currently 3-2. Their toughest remaining games are (probably) UM and Weber … both of which they get at home. If they were to split those and win the rest, they’d end up at 8-3. As I understand it, they are eligible for an at-large bid ... and would probably get such a bid with an 8-3 record. With "regionalization," they could then play either a Big Sky or Missouri Valley opponent in the first playoff round. Ain't "science" wonderful? :lol:
