Is the BSC following the PAC12 model?

Totally better, thats why the BigSky is alive and well and the Pac 12 is on the verge of no longer existing.

What a cringe post this is.

Uh, well? We have teams who can’t pay hotel bills to send their teams to the bsc basketball tournament. We have others who would be forced to play the bsc BB championship in a yoga studio because their facility holds 561 people. We have programs who play their football games in front of 714 people who sit on aluminum bleachers in a stadium that makes the local junior high school look like the Taj Mahal. We have a conference who FINALLY gets a game on national television and still finds a way to make themselves a national laughing stock by fudge up a call so bad — even after reply shows how obvious it is — that it damn near breaks the internet. Then we have a commish who somehow justifies that by saying they needed 17 cameras when one showed the play clearly. We have a conference in which in most years we have 9 BB teams with RPIs well in excess of 300. We have a conference who only gets a team to the big dance because they gift one to us. We have a conference with the worst officiating in the nation. in football AND basketball. We have a conference in which they once called a safety when the return man caught a ball 9 yards deep in the end zone and then stepped on the end line.

poop, I could literally do this all day. But if you consider that a conference doing “well”, then perhaps that’s the issue.

Regardless of your biases, the Big Sky is doing better than the Pac 12. Montana had ample opportunities to move up over the years and never made the call. Maybe your anger should be directed at your own University instead of the conference that has provided you a stable home for over 50 years. If the Montana's really believed the Big Sky wasnt a good fit for them they would have left by now. Your University is to blame for your unhappiness. Not the Big Sky.

Everett or anyone, please list the items of "mismanagement" of the Big Sky under the last 2 executive directors. Not the things you don't like. We've seen many of those posts. Just the mismanagement.

Mismanagement v Bone Headed Ideas.

Twelve football schools spread out over eight states, Canadian border to the Mexican border, Pacific Coast to the midwest.

Maybe we just disagree on terminology.

Foolertons Folley.

Sounds to me like the BSC was ahead of the game. Falling behind now though, both Big 10 and Big 12 have bigger footprints

I said the last 2 executive directors. That doesn't include Fullerton.

The conference has been large since 2012. Davis and CP are the only 2 remaining schools from that expansion. Those were and are good additions. They were added to keep them from going to the MW.

Are you saying that the Big Ten being coast to coast is mismanagement?

Again, I'm looking for mismanagement, not things people don't like.

Acceptance of the Fullerton belief that teams near dense populations (PSU, SacSt, UNC) were needed for conf growth. Rejection of the SDSU and NDSU applications. Attempt to add UND and USD, when USD did not accept, and we wound up with a 13 member football conference. Addition of S. Utah. Addition of football-only programs.

None of which was under the last 2 executive directors. Except for avoiding the 2 Dakota schools, none of those other things have caused big problems for the conference or for the conference to fall apart. The conference seems fairly solid to me. I still think the conference is managed fairly well.

In the last 10 years, what would you have done differently? I wouldn't have taken the basketball tourney to Reno.

If I buy into your point, I don't, that the BSC is awful, and my team was only able to finish in the middle of the pack, wouldn't that mean that my team sucks mightily?

We are all on the BSC team. If I were the coach of a team and had one of my players constantly bad mouthing our team, That player would not be one of my best and would certainly not get any sort of consideration. Also, most other coaches would not want that player after I booted them or they etered the portal.

Best to be a good teammate.

All of these, certainly. The list is lonnnnngggg and includes (but is certainly not limited to): the hiring of Wistrciill; the movement of the BB tournament to a neutral site because most of the programs are so broke they cannot afford travel; The inability to recruit and train officials; The unwillingness to hold officials accountable; The ridiculous contract with Pluto; the even more ridiculous extension of that contract; the fucking up on a nationally televised game by blowing a call twice, including when video replay was clear; the ridiculous and condescending comment from the commish following that major fuckup; the constant decision-making to benefit the lowest common denominator.
