App St., JMU, and all the rest who have made the great leap forward to FBS, since 1985(I gotta start somewhere, and since this is the year of the 'Immaculate Griz Conception,' I choose to start there), here's an analogy:

You are in a busy parking lot, no slots left. Now a car called Nevada, another called Boise State, then Idaho, App State, JMU, and a bunch of others, leave the parking lot. A bunch more cars have also entered the lot and are competing for their slots. Is the parking lot better since they left? Is it a stronger lot?

To say 'Yes' or 'No' would be a SUBJECTIVE answer. Just a lot.

In this analogy are the App States and JMU’s more akin to a Mercedes or Cadillac? If so are they bailing because there is a new parking lot up the street with better attendants, tighter security, more perks, and brighter lights? And are those new cars coming into the lot that are looking to fill the vacancies more like a Ford Fiesta, 90’s Honda accord, or a rusted out Yugo or jalopy? If so then what the hell have we become that we aren’t joining others in our class of vehicle? Outdated older model?

Damn good questions, Wolf. I never looked. I was just looking at the plates. Since '85, there have been slots blocked off for those 'preferred groups,' like handicapped slots, pregnant/child bearing slots, etc. I have a rusted out jalopy 4 X 4. Plan to be buried in it. Our Cadillac is still in the shop. Between body work and mechanical, Delaney/Stitt/Engstrom drove it into the ground. Great quote from you, Wolf. May I? The best team in the conference recently, with 3 champs and only one conf loss, was a cellar dweller for eons.

How did they win 3 in a row without getting better?
