Is NM really THAT good?

No, we're all good. You guys believe you have a good shot to win, and why shouldn't you? That's why we're all fans!

And if we lose tomorrow it'll be okay. We've lost in the first round before, and if you've followed this team at all you'd know that this year was supposed to be a rebuilding year. We heard it all offseason: No bigs, too young, etc., etc. Heck, we were picked fifth(!) in our weak-assed conference, as you like to say, so all the Lobo fans are still just enjoying the ride of a 29-win season and we're not ready for it to end just yet.

I know some good people from Montana; it's beautiful country. Good luck to you all tomorrow and for seasons to come and GO LOBOS!!

New Mexico is the only team in the country that has played at least 5 ranked opponents and is undefeated against those ranked teams.

And another thing! You played A&M in Houston... road game for both of you... though 3/4 of your kids are from Texas, so it was like a home game.... A&M played Washington in Seattle and lost by 9... we only lost by 4 in Seattle and we were playing 8 Huskies at once, three of them had stripes on. So let's do the math! North Mexico beats A&M by 3... A&M loses by 9 to UW... the Griz only lose by 4 to UW... so in my book... WE'RE TWO POINTS BETTER THAN YOU! My accountant once told me before I filed for bankruptcy... The NUMBERS never lie! We also beat NAU by 38 points to your 39... even tho it took us two games... so you better bring your A game Lobo Lips!

The reason we beat NAU by only 39 was because Alford actually waved off the 2nd-string players with 2 minutes left in the game. I was there and really wanted to see a 100+ point victory. I was pissed, but then realized Alford is too classy of a coach to run up the score any more than it already was. After I realized that I had more respect for him.

This also applied to some of the other games where we had 20+ point margins and he let those margins go by giving the bench players more playing time. Some of those games ended up being only single-digit wins.

Pomeroy does not have any mathematical method for taking this into account -- a coach who won't run up the score. I asked him (e-mail) but he has no answer for this. This is a big flaw in his system, IMO.

One other thing that hasn't been mentioned in this thread. UM has 1 player who averages (points) in double figures; UNM has 4. Defense for UNM is simplified, defense for UM just became a nightmare.

Just a couple weeks since some of us were calling for the Griz to be done and questioning our coach's ability. I recall saying the "hype for next year" season was about to begin so have definitely had to eat my words, but glad to do so.

I like the sound of "New Mexico" better than "Georgetown", "Michigan State" , "Oklahoma State", or even "Cal" or "Florida" but understand our task is a big one.

We need big games from more than just AJ. I really look to Qvale, Staudacher and Selvig for support. I think Stauds and Qvale in particular are due, especially offensively. We need to come out strong and avoid the puzzling lapses we had even in the BSC tourney.

Griz have nothing to lose but hope they are on edge and feeling the pressure of having a chance from the opening tip on. Go Griz!!

New Mexico already smashed Cal this year!!!! :D

6-0 vs ranked opponents :D
Including a victory AT #10 BYU in front of 22,600 insane fans for the MWC regular season championship

The game will be played tomorrow night and to my knowledge neither team is ahead, neither has won or lost, and BYU, WA, OR, TEX AM, etc, etc, aren't in it. UNM has never made it to the 16 and neither have we and none of the players in the game have ever played in NCAA's before.

Let's see what happens tomorrow night!

Not that it matters much for tomorrow night's game, but point of fact Montana has made one Sweet 16 in 1975.

First Round Montana 69 Utah St 63
Regional Semis UCLA 67 Montana 64 (THE Game that those of that grew up in Missoula remember as lore)

Is it Thursday yet??? It's getting SPICY in here! I haven't heard the University of North Mexico one since the Iowa fans were mad at us for hiring Alford!
They were mad at message board fans for hiring Alford...you guys gotta lot of pull down there.

Can someone sit FoKuZ down and explain the definition of sarcasm. I know we're dealing with teenage burner with a low two-digit IQ, but this is getting painful, I can't keep it up anymore. It's like trying to teach a little kid to use the shitter for the first time... he'd rather crap all over himself instead of look at the big picture. Sorry FoKuZ, The true idiot is the one who doesn't know when he's getting his chain pulled... you've been Punked Baby... welcome to Griz Nation. Now go blow smoke up some amateur fan's ass... you're boring.

Man, it's getting crazy over here! Lobobro has torn off his gloves and Fokuz is right behind! I'm actually having a hard time hating Montana (nothing personal, I just hate all our opponents until the final horn) b/c I think 99% of your fans have been very gracious. I clearly hope UNM wins, but wish Montana the best no matter what happens.

I am just glad the Lobos are not undefeated against unranked teams.

I'm not gonna say how good the Lobos are until we see which team shows up.
Villanova looked good , but I took Robert Morris because Nova has always been overhyped..
Score-58-58 with 25 seconds to go.
