Is MSU a play-off team?

Come on!

2 or 3 deep at every position. Don't they even run their practices different because of this depth? OL with freshman and sophs who beat out all conference guys. Starting RBs beat out by Badgers. #41 who's supposedly > Griz #37. 2 amazing QBs. Coaches recruits sellouts campus enrollment Nick Faldo fans who live in caves and chant ESGGCG at weddings funerals grade school graduations and while filling their gas tanks at convenience stores in April.

Hell yes they're a playoff team!

Yes they are still a playoff team. Top 4? Hell no. Top 6? Maybe…..Top 8? I would say 7 or 8. Had they fought harder it would have given them a better shot at a higher seed. But the cats will maybe get 1 possibly 2 home games but they will be traveling after that. I think they can beat most of the teams that will come their way but if they play tougher teams who get up on them, could be a repeat of today for them.

Cats will probably get a 6 seed, and play a team from the south in the round of 16. The 3 seed will lose and cats will host a qf game against someone from the East/south who take 2 days to get to Bozeman.

Meanwhile Griz will get a 2 seed and play a MVFC team I. The round of 16 like North Dakota or So IL, then play NDSU in the QF. Seems to always break that way.

If the Cats do play a team from the south in frigid Bozeman, they need to dress warmly and wear long sleeves. Some of those southern boys can play in the cold…

I was joking about it when I said it earlier on the board, but it was fortunate that they brought their 2021 passing game plan with them yesterday. Minus one pass that was dropped, and one or two caught, everything appeared to have been thrown as a fifty-fifty up the sideline, hope upon hope that they would get a PI call.

If they run into a playoff opponent who can move the ball, score points and most importantly, keep them from running for more than 200, they're screwed.

That’s the only passing game they’ve EVER had. Heave and pray. When they had McCutcheon there grabbing passes it worked. Now? Not so much…

Their passing game is 100% predicated on the ability to run the ball at will. When they face a defense like Montana's, who can stop their run and put them in obvious passing downs, they quite literally have no chance.

Neither QB is a DI level thrower, and they don't have great playmakers on the outside.

I said it earlier, and I meant it: I'd rather face msu again than Ferris, who is a much more complete team.

I can't believe they playoff committee gave them the #6 spot. After getting dominated for the first time all year and their 3rd loss, they only drop 2 slots, while the #2 Furman dropped 5 spots is crazy. Not too mention how high Idaho is.

The Bobcats struggle against ranked teams, but they're 8-3 it's hard to image them being 7-4. By definition, they're a playoff team. Should they be one of the 8 seeded teams? Probably not.

The Montana schools are going to provide the NCAA a good gate and a good atmosphere for television.

Sorry, I'll say it again. Are the Cats one of the top 7 teams we've played this year? Do you remember Ferris State? Way better than whatever that was today? NAU, beat us. Sac St or Idaho? PSU were a better opposition than that garbage today. Would you say Cats were better than Butler? Based on what?

It's honestly hard to evaluate because our Griz have improved so much during the conference season while MSU has seemed to stagnate. It's going to be interesting to watch the Cats in the playoffs - I don't know how you make a run with virtually no passing game.

Any 8-3 team from the BSC is a playoff team. <---- this Agreed 100%

Bobcats Gain Benefit of the Doubt
It’s easy for Montana State (8-3) to be highly regarded after finishing as the national runner-up in 2021 and reaching the semifinals in 2019 and last year, but its No. 6 seed may live off the Bobcats giving South Dakota State its toughest game, with the Jackrabbits holding on for a 20-16 win on Sept. 9 after replay overturned what was first ruled a game-ending Bobcats’ TD. Coach Brent Vigen’s squad also lost to Idaho and badly to Montana – 37-7 bad – as part of a 1-3 record against playoff qualifiers (the win was Sacramento State). The ‘Cats have won 26 straight home games and expect to welcome in North Dakota State in a monster second-round matchup on Dec. 2.

So, there is so much short-term memory overreliance in the press. Haley can barely remember that MSU scared the bejeezus out of the SDSU bunnies.

Just two weeks ago the spuds lose to Weber in Ogden. In Sept the bubcats went to Ogden and boat-raced the mildcats. Idaho gets a 5 seed ? MSU could have got a win against Idaho if not for Taco not catching the wide-open touchdown pass. Idaho had two weeks to prepare for the bubcats and needed a late-fourth-quarter score to beat the bubcats.

Anyways - back to the Griz. Hopefully the players can get fully-caught-up on classwork and get healed-up/rested-up. Fontes appeared at near 100% in the rivalry game, and played well. WR corp is playing well and has depth. Lately TE's played well - just imagine how dynamic this 2023 offense would have been with a skilled-playmaker Grossman. The Running Backs are playing great. It is playoff time and the rushing attack is critical. The offensive line played well and it would be great if the offensive guards could get healed up quickly to fortify the depth of the OL. The defensive line and linebackers are playing well and can use a week off to nurse the bumps & bruises. Cornerbacks and safeties have played consistently well since the NAU game, with only rare exceptions. The players accept coaching well.
