having his team do nothing but pass makes them two bad things: a 'gimmick' team and one that loses. does he think that is going to attract better athletes to poky?

Anybody is better than the guys he has now.

Think about this, Idaho State has surrendered at least 50 points to every DI opponent they've faced except one, who scored 49. They've given up over 600 yards in total offense six times already this season. They've given up at least 70 points on four separate occassions. Twice, they've lost by more than 60 points. They've lost by 40 or more 6 times already this season. If you take away their 52-45 loss to UC Davis, the closest they've come to winning a conference game was 23.

Leach's team makes a better showing against some quality opposition in the PAC12. You could make a case that Colorado is the ISU of the PAC12. If WSU doesn't get something for it's $2MM, there will be consequences.

Mike Leach gets over $2MM a year for a similar system with similar results...

Leach came in w/ bare cupboards. Give him 12 yrs to get "his guys" in.

P.S. They damn near came back last night. Damn near...

My source with connections to the team, whom I've known for many years, told me it was APR, APR, APR. Administration was in actual fear that the NCAA would come and sh*tcan the whole program for a history of poor APR. Evidently, they had been warned prior to this last year. Lewis, as the story was told, did not drop anyone from the team for any reason. Zamberlin came in and WHAMMO! People went flying out the door. There was, literally, less than a handful of players left from the pre-Zamberlin era. APR went from bad to off the charts. Enter Kramer with the mandate to fluff up the APR, then see what kind of a team he could field. ISU is using a fine mesh screen for academics, due to no screen in the past. It is true that ISU has produced some fine NFL players, but they weren't pre-Med. No names.

Kramer is a damn good coach. The APR etc that tourist mentioned is much of the problem. He will need at least two more years to get up to speed (not drug speed) and can eventually make a decent team out of Idaho State. It was just about the only head coaching job he could get. He was the best head coach Id. could get for the money. Period.

He is using this season simply as a practice year for his kids. He will be hard pressed to get top kids but I look for him to pick young HS kids with good grades and a shade less talent than others. My bet is that after two more years he is way better off. Passing teams can do much more with less than other offenses.

Mike Leach is an excellent coach and did very well at Texas Tech. by passing the ball over and over. He did not give much effort to the defensive side but he had a fantastic offense. Look for both Mikes to do well after two more seasons. Also Washington St. got the best coach available.

Montana? After this season or after next we get to have the same head coaching problem. Finding a perfect fit for the money and the program.
