Is it time for the drop-kick?

I don't disagree Alpha but what I saw last night could easily cost the Griz several W's this year!

If the offense keeps improving and clicking like they are now, we won't have to worry about needing field goals to win games.

You are entitled to your opinion but I dont agree.

If you get geared up to the mindset that you go for it on 4th down and you get 4 shots at a 1st down instead of being like the other team who only gets 3.

Its a mindset. Score TDs you dont need FG's

Couldn't be any worse than waking up to this in the paper:

“It’s atrocious,” Delaney said of the field goal kicking. “That’s unacceptable. They’ve got to be accountable and do a better job.

“We’ll run on fourth down. We won’t even kick the ball if we can’t make the kicks that are expected of them. They’ve got to perform like everybody else and we’ll keep switching around until someone takes the job.”

Can you imagine what he said in person??????

knowing m.d. the way I do, it would not have been pretty....maybe a little to much butte, for young men to handle...lets hope it does destroy what little confidence they have left......on the other hand, they do need a kick in the butt....
.
This. Kids are different these days. Intestinal fortitude might be in there, just have to tease it out. Blue collar tough - I will show you attitude is very rare these days "especially for a kicker". Friggin obvious last night that the kickers are running scared when they see MD. They are afraid of missing and are tight as hell. I don't know jack squat about kicking, but I know body language and kids. They have no confidence left. Someone better take a different coaching approach. What they are trying is not working!! I watched Lider last year and last night. The kid can kick. He has plenty of leg strength. Holy hell. Reach out to someone in Missoula or somewhere in the state that knows how to kick. Call Carpenter if you have to and ask him to atleast talk to the kid. He can't be that bad.

I believe the cants kicker Perez made 1 of 5 in they're scrimmage. Could be wrong but I thought that's what I read.

If this were MSU a la the mid 1960's we might be lucky enough to find a Norwegian ski jumper with a wicked leg. ;)
Or, an early Rugby type play, like this.

Kickin' Into the Record Book:
Frosty Peters was only a Bobcat for one season, but he left his mark. As a member of MSC's freshman team in 1924, Peters earned national and lasting fame for converting 17 of 25 drop kicks into field goals against Billings Polytechnic Institute, now Rocky Mountain College. Peters' feat was hailed in the MSC Exponent as a "world record." Rumors that Peters had a record in mind had circulated on campus that week, and according to the Exponent account, those stories were confirmed early. On the first play from scrimmage, Peters stormed through the Poly line for an apparent long touchdown run, but fell on the ball on the 25 yard line and nailed his first kick shortly thereafter. Throughout the afternoon, the entire Bobkitten team assisted Peters by falling on the ball short of the goal line. The game ended 64-0.

Steneruds lifetime fg% was 66.8

He wouldn't make one team in the NFL now with that %

Jus sayin

True, but the shoes are superior now as is the field. He put out many kicks off of mud and sand. Footing many times was sh1tty at best. Now the kickers have a posh synthetic base to set their custom cleats down on. :egriz:

Typical boobscat; nothin' new here. They're known throughout as those that trip over the yard lines most times, anyways. Even in basketball, they have to skip over the ten second line otherwise they trip on it.

And 2-point conversions. Just keep wearing them down.
