Is e-Griz part of the problem?

Grizzly football needs to grow a pair and adopt a zero tolerance policy and cut any player, coach, water boy that gets in trouble.

Now there's a common sense approach! Wait, define "gets in trouble."

Some interesting comments. Not quite sure I understand the comments where people say e-griz is not part of the issue but some of the posters are. Is it not egriz that allows those posters a forum to "speak"? Thus if thats your belief then you really must believe egriz is part of the problem.

The fact is egriz is a great source of information, some good some bad, some rumors, some truth. We know that media both news and social check out happenings on egriz. At a minimum there are good leads here. And there is proof that many people on a National level at least look on occasion.

Personally I do not believe that egriz is part of the problem, and as some said - this is the world we live in now like it or not. Things like twittering have allowed drama to become part of that world, as has egriz. How many times have you met someone who says they dont like drama? I see it all the time with people on facebook, they dont like drama, yet they post their drama.

What I do fear for though, is that at some point comments that are made on forums like egriz will become fodder for our sue happy society. At some point people may even try and sue sites like egriz for slander. Sound strange? Look at what is happening in the NFL now. Former players holding a league responsible for their head trauma. I knew as a 15 year kid, football could cause concussions, and that was in the 70s.

Fact is that in our sue happy world, at some point whether we like it not - we could be sued for stating opinions, or posting opinions on public message boards, and those same forums could be also held libel.

That day is coming, when I have no clue. If all this happened at that time then sadly, I believe that someone would try and hold sites like egriz at fault, even though they did nothing other than post information already out there. People will also get sued for their public twitter comments. Newspapers, magazines and "news" organizations are already being sued.

I'm just glad I probably wont be alive when all that goes down. I enjoy egriz to much.

Most posters just wish you would become permanently anonymous. We all know that you want to be anonymous, since you have changed your screen several times over the years, to hide your identity, for no apparent reason. And, we know that you stalk young athletes, as well as my son and daughter. I have been told by several bar tenders that you routinely ask them for info about me. You are as creepy as Jerry Sandusky.

You wont want to read this. Grizzly football is becoming a joke, the games are not won on a football field they are won in a court room. The Pres tried the bandaid approach and cut the head off the monster when he got rid of the coach and athletic director. But weeks later the monster had a new head and it was business as usual. Missoula used to stink because of the pulp mill now it stinks because of a few bad decisions at U of M. Maybe then this board will get back to talking football offense and defense instead of legal offense and defense. I’d like to see the Grizzlies bring a national championship back to the great state of Montana because of the quality of the football team both on and off the field instead of the quality of their attorneys.

Nothing I like better than someone who pre-judges everything based on what they read on a message board or see in a bankrupt newspaper's pages. I am withholding judgement until the investigations are C O M P L E T E. Hell, they really haven't started and you know it all already. What a joke. I bet your ancestors wanted black people to be segregated too. That is as intelligent as your post is.

Very perceptive, Digger. :thumb: It's only a matter of time when standards, laws, etc., that exist for printed material are applied to Internet material. There has to be some level of accountability, and as you suggest, it's already happening with the Internet. If you express an opinion, say, in a letter to editor of a newspaper, you have to use your correct name and location. It could well be that laws will be passed to apply the same standard to Internet posters.

There is nothing Constitutionally valid to oppose this kind of standard to the Internet. Free speech does have limits, and it's been recognized in this country & around the world for centuries. There's no infringement of free speech if you are required to state your full name when you post something. This requirement alone will tone down a lot of the nonsense that goes on on the Internet.

The FCS playoffs are a far cry from the national stage. One or two games on ESPN/2 does not mean the program is on the map nationally. Guess who cares about the FCS? FCS fans, NOBODY else. Griz football fans need to grow up :thumb:

I don't find that on the other Big Sky sites.
Parents and recruits read your site too, and it has to be a big turn off for many of them.

Those sites get no hits because they do not have provocative posters like argh!, Alpha, and myself to stimulate readership.
