Is e-Griz part of the problem?

The problem I have with your site, and the MSU site, is that so many of you are so crude and foul mouthed.
I don't find that on the other Big Sky sites.
Parents and recruits read your site too, and it has to be a big turn off for many of them.

Besides eGriz and Bobcat Nation none of the other Big Sky fan sites really get any traffic.. and you know who owns some of those other Big Sky sites? The same guy that owns this one..

Those sites get no hits because they do not have provocative posters like argh!, Alpha, and myself to stimulate readership.

...wait, argh!?

Most posters can not appreciate the postings of this guy. He is over their heads 90% of the time. But his pure and unadulterated genius is well know among academic circles. Especially when the circles involve a jerk. ;)

Growler just proved my point. If you can't think then attack.Ideas don't count with you, so just keep on the attack.

Well each of those sites has about 4 active posters ... whereas this one has that many MSU fans on at any given moment

I would hope by now people would understand the concept of "free speech". You have to accept the existence of the "unacceptable" if you want the free exchange of ideas. People will be jerks or worse but is the alternative better? I just read an article about a guy in Kuwait who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for insulting Islam, Mohammed, his wives, Saudi Arabia, and perhaps even someone who might matter. I'll put up with the chaff to get a chance to enjoy the wheat. Anyone who doesn't understand this concept really needs to stay away from the internet. It is hazardous to the naive.

This guy must be very new to the internet. Anonymity is a bitch

Very good point.

The internet, just like soceity, features a big mix of the good and bad - and message boards can drive some of those actions and statements. The only "problem" is what is the new normal and that's quick info via social media ready at anytime during the day. It's the new normal and it's not something that can be corrected, it is what it is.

True... and I'm all for free speech, but I think there is a tolerance level for some of the posts on here that is pretty bad actually. A perfect example was a couple weeks ago on one of these threads about JJ where some poster said something like, "Why would he need to rape a chick, he's a football player and can get all the pussy he wants?"... or something similar to that. So obviously that's a dumb, immature, crude comment... and everyone just let it slide and I didn't see one poster comment about that post being out of line. So people see posts like that, and it's not the post itself because people are going to post things like that... but the fact that all the regulars on here just let that one fly without posting how stupid that comment is. So people think you're a bunch of mouth breathers.

I apologize if someone did call out that poster... I never checked back after a couple days.

Please dude. Go back to your pathetic Sac. State where three posts in a day is a good day. Don't you just love these jealous dudes from other teams coming on here to lecture us on how to run our site?

We are probably less than 10 years away from where people are going to be held liable for the comments made either via Twitter, or on Facebook or on message boards. All its going to take is one lawsuit....and one win. Remember someone suing McDonalds for burning their lip with a hot pickle? The majority of lawsuits are silly, but some day soon anonymity will be gone IMO. So I disagree, its something that is going to self correct very soon.

I pray the backward nature of this forum and its faithful posters remains a fixture. Watching your dumpster fire of a university twist in the wind online is something I've found I can't live without. Thank you EGriz!

Maybe much sooner ... Note that the proposed suit is not against the newspaper, but rather against the blog commenters. This is making national news because of the possible ramifications.

I believe your athletic teams have received NCAA sanctions much more recently than UM has..

Yes, it is true. The Eagle football team was placed on probation for three years in 2009 after reporting violations to the NCAA. I found the summer-long non event intrguing at the time, albeit, not as much as your current homage to the Hindenberg disaster.
