Is Choate Taking Cats in Right Direction?

No one has Hated the Bobcats More than me. I have passionately hated the Players, the Coaches, the Athletic directors and the Fans, for 61 Years. I want to beat their butts by 50 points Saturday. That said, I have to give coach Choke, credit for getting the very most from his Kids. They are ruffians, aggressive, undisciplined, and well coached. I believe he will be around for a good while. That said. He and Bobby Hauck, will provide some Great Entertainment for Montana Football fans for a good while. Can't wait . Would love to celebrate one more time at the Stockmans Go Griz

Donald??

Would it even be possible for Chote to make that team any worse than they were when he took over?

Anything he does is going to be positive and upward that doesn't make it legendary, it just makes him better than suck.

In the last 3 years, Ash was 5-6 in his last season, lost 3 times in a row to the Griz, and made the playoffs once.

In case anyone cares about the facts. 6-4 with a chance to beat the Griz (for the 3d year in a row) and make the playoffs, seems like an upward trend from 5-6 and losing to the Griz, to me.

I see you back up your opinion by framing the parameters to fit it. Ash's last year was sub-par to his previous years at the same institution. Was that a trend or an aberration? You want to establish an Ash trend based on one year, but Choke gets 3 years to establish his? When the Griz beat Bozeman this year, is he still headed in the right direction?

You want to ignore reality. Look at what the Cat posters are saying. They know their program better than you and I do. They all seem to be saying the Choate is an improvement over Ash.

Having 2 bad years in 3, losing to the Griz several times, and losing control of the locker room (see Cat comments), is a trend.

Cat posters are reality? Maybe in some alternate universe!

Choach has a far better trajectory than Ash, even if their records turn out to be identical. At least that's what most trajectorians are saying.

I am impressed with Choate. He is very football intelligent and competitive. I think he is a rising star.

He is 2-0 versus the Griz. And his team is getting better. He has had two good recruiting classes so far. and I don't see that changing (recruiting) going forward. He is a major upgrade from Ash.

On this subject, the Cat posters have been on point, in my view. Certainly, more accurate and relevant than some of the Griz posters, in my view.

In an extremely short version, yes but slower than most of us had hoped. If we don't field a serviceable Big Sky QB next year and finish with less than 7 wins his seat is going to become extremely hot. Although we have a fairly hard schedule next year - @ Texas Tech, home against SEMO, @ WIU, early season NAU (haha), @ UND and @ UCD.

I think you guys have a really good shot at landing a certain QB, and if that happens, I think you're immediately in the conference championship discussion.

The missing piece on the Cats this year is a true QB. Next year Bauman and Beltran will be ready. Bauman at 6'6" has a strong, accurate arm and with his height sees the field really good. Beltran is a smart, physical kid that can run and pass. He led 5A powerhouse Centenniel HS in AZ to the State championship. He was also MVP of the scout team this year. Also, Rovig will be back. I am sure they will bring in a transfer or two. Gresch Jensen would be a great get. They also have a freshman who looks really good from the midwest that has already committed. Anderson will go back to LB or RB.

With the players returning next year and a solid QB, 7 wins or more is attainable.

Troy gives us the best chance to win right now, simple as that. Those two guys are true freshman. Choate needed to secure a winning season this year I think to probably keep the wolves at bay so to speak.

I was disappointed not to see Bauman come in against Cal Poly (well he did for one series in the first half while Andersen got looked at), or UNC. If anything to preserve Troy as he is pretty much banged up in one way or another every game.

I would think a 6'6" QB with a strong and accurate arm might give you a decent chance to win games in the BSC. There have been so many great QBs sitting on the bench in Bozeman in the last decade that I lose track.

Weren't you saying Prukop would be back, or never left?

They wanted to redshirt this year, and Choate let them.

If these guys would just agree to come off their redshirts, the playoffs and a national championship this season might be doable. Or, maybe Jensen would come right now, as he's not going to get a win this season at his JC, due to the sanctions.

Thanks for the info. That's an odd concept. Imagine a coach allowing a player to redshirt according to the player's wishes.
