Not sure if it was a Freudian slip, but he was definitely talking past tense.

Bumping my earlier response to this thread, this is how I'm interpreting it more about THIS season and games in particular at WaGriz in front of the fans being past tense.

I think people are reading too much into this. When Bobby was asked about why he thinks the home team has won so big in recent Cat/Griz games, he answered (my paraphrase) that he wished he knew so he could make sure to win NEXT YEAR IN BOZEMAN. That sounds like a coach that's sticking around.

He said "It's a real privilege for me to have been the head coach here." Pause. "Twice." That's why it's past tense. He's including both stints as head coach.

I agree. I mentioned this in an earlier post…I think it was just the proper English based on how he answered the question….

Yes I forgot that! I did hear that.

Isn’t the simplest explanation here just that the guy who tries to gain any possible edge via what he says and doesn’t say publicly is doing the same thing for his upcoming contract negotiation?

My take on Bobby continuing to coach the Griz...I firmly believe he would like to coach with Robby and if he can find a way to get him on the staff, he will.
If we win the NC he can make him assistant head coach, for all I care.

If win the Natty, Robby can wear #37 if Bobby wants him to.

Pretty sure that's entirely up to Janacaro

I agree. And I don't think Bobby tried to get 37 to Robby, by the way, from what I heard. I don't have first hand or definitive info, just what I heard on decent info.

There was prior words to the effect they had just won the 19th conference championship and was looking forward to winning the 20th.

And in yesterday's press conference Bobby said that he's excited about recruiting and about next season.

I heard that….gave me hope. He’s got this thing rolling again. Can you imagine if the combo of our coaching staff, all our receivers, McDowell, and gillman all stay?! Especially after the year they’ve had! Next season would be so fun again.

Bobby is not done, he can be here as long as he wants and will not go anywhere else. He has 5-10 more years
