What is it that makes them look like playoff contenders? Please....explain.
Idk it just seems like their offense is pretty good this year. They’re putting up a lot of points, Gueller looks like a very good QB, and the other Gueller is a good WR. Plus they got a good coach and OC (Troxel) who knows our offense. Plus for once in their lifetime their defense is not miserable.

And yet, many Egrizzers BUTCHERED Rob and his offenses for nine years on this board. NOWWWWWWWWWWWWW he's a good coach lol. And FTR, I love Rob, always have and thought he was a damn good coach when he was here.

I also know for an absolute fact that a lot of people/egrizzers had it all wrong about Rob. You know how the defensive players have always said they would have ran through a brick wall for Ty? It was the absolute same for the offensive players with Rob. To them, he was THE MAN. I know that for a fact.

 Good post GF. Accurate history.

Can't put this game on Gresch! He will do just fine. The Defense needs to really bring it this week! Calhoun needs another 100 yd rushing outbreak, probably closer to 200. I expect a big game from Josh Horner in this one, big plays over the middle.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't UM just last weekend go on the road and win a game they were supposed to win, and with a redshirt frosh QB?

Yup, that was a great start. But that doesn't mean that they will go on the road and win a bunch more games with a frosh qb. Winning 4 games in a row on the road is obviously harder than winning one game on the road. Do disagree? I assume you don't think that winning one game means that winning 3 more is a given?

I fully agree, but I think it's funny to say that this year's team hasn't proven they can win on the road when they have only played one road game so far (that they should have won) and did win that game. Like you said, I agree it was a great start. If we can get the win on Saturday, that will show that this team is probably starting to turn the corner.

Again, I think it's funny that you think one win on the road is a trend or indicative of what the team can do, especially when last year's team and coaches weren't so hot on the road, nor were they a year ago.

Not as funny as you thinking that a different team from a different year is more indicative than the current team in the current year. No, a win in Pokey is certainly not a given, but as someone who played the game, I would hope you can see that this year's team responded to challenges and adversity on the road last week better than they did at any point last season.

One more thing, Hauck's 2009 team that nearly went 15-0 barely got out of Pokey with a win against a winless ISU team. Winning games on the road is hard, regardless of who is at the helm.

Sorry but to say the team hasn't proven they can go on the road and win a game they should win when they did the previous week is a failure of 3rd grade level logic, especially coming from someone "who played the game". It isn't proof that they can consistently do it, the way good teams do -- but I haven't seen anyone yet make that claim. The fact that they won is a perfectly valid reason to be optimistic that they can do it again. I think that is where a lot of -- if not the majority of -- Griz fans are at the moment, optimistic. Relax. We get to find out next Saturday where the Griz are in their progress to "consistently winning on the road". BTW - When they win again I realize that at least one brainiac in this forum will claim that winning two games in a row on the road won't in any way suggest consistency in spite of the fact that no one will claim it does.

Unfortunately, I am to. I think we’ve got our hands full in every remaining game this season.

There are those on here who if we won a Natty, would be on here saying that just winning one National Championship does not mean that anything has been proven.

Maybe that's a good thing. We (my wife and I) go back a about quarter century in following the Griz ... but there are many on here who have been around a whole lot longer. I believe they will back me on this: In the "glory days," some of the best UM football teams earned the nickname "Cardiac Griz." Because the Griz always had a target on their back, the opponents "played out of their minds" and made the games tough -- home or away (but especially away). It was extremely nerve-wracking, but we kinda got used to the notion that the games might come down to the wire.

That was one of the worst played and coached Griz games I've ever watched. Hauck decided to run a play with the Griz at the 2 yard line down 12-10 with just seconds on the clock rather than kick a PAT length FG for the win. Of course, they got a hands to the face call making it instead a 33 yarder for McKnight, which he fortunately squeezed juuuuuust inside the right upright.

I was at that game. It was awful.

Well, at least we're not setting him up to fail. :?

Calhoun is due and he won't fail! I keep waiting for Treshawn Favors to break out, but...

I think that ship has sailed

I was going to say but...he's number 3 on the depth chart?
Because one got hurt, want to red shirt one and another quit so being #3 is not saying much. I hope they at least try him returning a kick, can't do any worse than has been done this year

I am hopeful and positive, but also worried. The team this year, and past Stitt teams, haven't shown that they can go on the road and win the games they should win. Plus, playing with a very promising redshirt frosh in his 3d start is not the same as playing with a very good senior qb.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't UM just last weekend go on the road and win a game they were supposed to win, and with a redshirt frosh QB?

I didn’t think PSU was a game UM should have won. Thus, it didn’t show that this year’s team can go on road and win games they should win.

As I said, I didn’t go into the game thinking the Griz should win at PSU, so it didn’t show that this team should win the games it should on the road. Winning really tough games on the road is a different category. Talk about not understanding logic. Jeez, did you get through third grade?

He gets his first 100 yard game ever and now we want 200. We have high expectations around here. Not 100 yard game mediocrity.

I think RP was micromanaged by his dominant boss when he was here. We'll get a better look at the real RP Saturday and I doubt he will micromanage Troxel. I would guess they have enjoyed the films of our defense for the last two games.
