from Pete Carroll's new conference today,

Carroll says "Uptempo offenses do not leave your defense out to dry if you convert 1st downs."

He did not however say whether or not is "gasses" the o-line....

Very true. A defense will get worn out if the offense is consistently going 3 & out, regardless of the offensive style.

Pete Carroll=Mr. Obvious

What about passing to the middle of the field on the half-yard line or onside kicking in overtime, what are his ingenious thoughts on those subjects?

F'tard.

The onside kick against the Rams in OT was monumentally stupid but since I have been a Rams fan since 1969 I am really OK with it.

Pretty much anything out of the ordinary looks "monumentally stupid" if it doesn't work. When it works, fans and the talking heads call it a "Genius move!" and anoint the coach as the next [Lombardi, Shula, Madden ... fill in the blank].

What's interesting is Carroll said that was not an onside kick and was intended to to be a floating pooch kick instead, but that his kicker effed up. He's been reading Rob Ash's "how to play 500 ball and keep your contract" and paid lots of attention to the chapter where you throw your players under the bus.

I think you are referring to Coach Ron Ash???

I saw that, the plan was to pop it up over the front row and recover it there. So instead of a 10% chance of success play they opted for a 20% chance of success play which still gives the Rams the ball at their own 45.

Now it makes perfect sense.

According to a site I found, 56 on-side kicks were attempted in the NFL in 2014 and 9 were successful. That's a 16% success rate. People might have declared "genius" had Seattle succeeded this time but the statistics would indicate "lucky". Sure luck plays a part in the game but if you bet the long odds you are going to lose a lot.

Actually sounded like the plan was to pooch it to the lineman around the 25...not saying it makes sense though...
