Interesting that NAU players/fans think they were jobbed

NAU and its fans should be focusing on winning its first playoff game. If NAU loses that game, no one will ever even bring up this seeding argument/complaint again.

I hope they get rolled by SDSU....

Only want them to beat SDSU so that the BSC can...nah...they need to get rolled!!!
That's kinda my feeling too. I want the Big Sky to look good, but I'm so sick of their whining and complaining.

NAU should have been seeded over Montana - there is NO Logical reason, other than it is Montana.

We kicked the SHIT out of Montana this year. Finished ahead of the Griz in the standings.

You got the seed based on name alone.

Selection committee is f***[*]

Montana's two losses were from the top 2 teams in the conference (yes one to NAU). NAU shot themselves by getting the SHIT kicked out of them to a now 7-5 MSU squad that lost 3 in a row to end the year and you did not have to play Eastern.

I don't understand why nau fans look strictly at montana and the 1 game we played. You play a whole season for this kinda thing and the montana schedule was more difficult. Sorry nau fans. If anything look at the other teams like towson

These NAU fans are making a lot of sense and have made me change my mind. In fact, I now feel so strongly they got jobbed I emailed the Rose Bowl on behalf of the Utah Utes to petition the Grand Daddy of them allow the Utes to take the Cardinal spot if they end up winning the game against ASU. Afterall, Utah beat Stanford and it's only fair.

Losers whine about not getting a bye, winners realize their lucky it's FCS and they can prove themselves on the field. Man up NAU and win one for the Big Sky on Saturday.

The bottom line is just beat the team you play and eventually, if you are as good as the fans think, it will be proven...I like the tourney...a great equalizer over a few weeks.

This is precisely why I LOVE the playoffs.

+1 :thumb:

Remember the year James Madison (or somebody) went all the way through the playoffs on the road and won the championship? That's how you show the NCAA that they screwed up.

Good post.

Except for the fact that msu kicked the SHIT outa nau this year. And nau only played 11 games. And they played a far easier big sky schedule than MONTANA. And their GPI was lower. And they were ranked lower all year. Oh, and yeah, Montana is the most successful, decorated current FCS program. nau's playoff history is...what is nau's playoff history again??

So yeah, other than those important things, no logical reasons why the GRIZ deserved it.

Again, what does past history have to do with this year?

As for MSU - yes, we lost to them, you beat them. But we BEAT YOU.

Far easier? Not really.

dbackjon, i still don't understand why you are trying to campaign or start something here. We Griz fans may very well be arrogant and believe the world revolves around our team, BUT WE DIDN'T MAKE THE BRACKET, and no one in Griz Nation serves on the FCS selection committee.

The people you should be griping to are in Indianapolis, or on a more localized level, the Portland State Athletic Director, who IS on the FCS committee.

AGAIN, Montana, its football team and its fan base did not disrespect Northern Arizona.!!

This, really. We fans and our team had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the seeding or selection of teams for the playoffs. Please stop blaming us for something over which we have NO control.

With a single elimination tournament, the only thing you know for sure when its all over is who the best team is and little else as the brackets never overlap. (meaning bragging on how far you advance may or may not mean anything.

Keeping that in mind should NDSU repeat, the case could be made that UM got screwed and NAU got the advantage. Last year MAYBE they had something to gripe about.

True ... but in a sense, also not true. Absolutely true in terms of who was best at tournament time. It shows up, perhaps, more in basketball than in football, but the tournament winner is, very often, the team that got hot at the right time.

Not complaining, mind you, but that is reality. I cannot imagine that anyone doubts that NDSU has been the best team in FCS football during this season. Will they win the tournament? Probably. But if they stumble -- one key turnover is all it could take -- some other team might win the championship. They (could be the Griz ... or NAU) will have the trophy, but most of us would probably predict that NDSU would win 2 out of 3 against that team, based on the season-long records and performances.

I would guess that, "historically," FCS football has not had such a dominant team, where we could say that for a given year. So the tournament has, overall, done a damn good job.

Hey! ... think how much worse it could be. Even next year, the "5th best" team in BCS football will have no chance to go on a hot streak and be "champion."

And MSU kicked the F**K out of Northern Arizona this year so what is your point...the Griz are ranked number 5 and 6 in the only polls that matter while NAU finished behind the Griz. If the Griz got the seed based on name alone they would have been rated higher than the number 5-7 teams, especially considering Main lost on Sat.

I sure hope NAU beats South Dakota State...so they can get the beating from EWU that they missed in the regular season!

 exactly. NAU is bitching because they have EWU to face instead of NDSU? Ha! No way NAU gets by SDSU. And if they do EWU is going to bury them. I just wish we had a chance to beat their ass in this bracket.
