Honestly I thought they bagged that thing the year the GRIZ took every point except the men's tennis, when they rested everyone for the bsc tournament

Last I knew there is nothing objective about pretending. And yes, pretending to be a Griz, by definition, is being a troll.
The team was far from decimated. Lots of good talent returning. Will they be better than those who graduated? Time will tell. Some players may be. They filled the weakest areas with players they brought in from the portal. There always seems to be a few players that emerge every season. As for replacing Tommy, I did not say the backups will be better. Again, I said they have some good talent. It will be a good competition. Bringing in QB, Justin Lampson, from the portal will bring in some experience.
What players did they bring in from the portal? I don't pay attention to their portal stuff until I see who is starting next year.
I remember reading about them when they committed but sorry, I don't have a list handy.
MSU has only signed one portal player so far, Justin Lamson a QB transfer via Syracuse and Stanford. They also have signed two JC DBs but those aren't technically portal players. MSU signed a big freshman class so there simply aren't the spots available right now to sign a bunch of transfers until/unless more players leave in the Spring portal window.
Thank you for the update. I'd be find counting Juco guys at portal players or whatever term, I was just meaning transfers more than anything. I wasn't trying to be pedantic.
Sounds like a good pedigree on the QB. I hope he fails, of course, but sounds like a decent pickup to take a shot at replacing Tommy.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out this year and next with the Griz bringing in a significant number of transfers with time left, vs the Cats essentially going with high school recruits this year.
I do hear your point that a lot of kids will be gently told to enter the portal, which will open up roster spots for MSU to pick up spring transfers. It would just seem to me that by the time you get that late into the transfer season, there isn't a ton available. I guess with roster limits, this year might be the exception.
I have bubcatjim on IGNORE (and life is grand!!) so I can't see what he posted. But he's never said anything objective about the GRIZ because, like you, he's full blown troll who is too much of a pussy to admit that's what he is.
I wasn't trying to quibble over word choice either! I can see just referring to all transfers as "portal players" even though the NAIA and JC levels don't use the portal system.
Totally, I think we're all trying to be a little too nice so it doesn't seem like we are just trolling the rival team's fans or something. We're good, thank you for the information. I appreciate it.
