Instant Reactions - Kennedy Presser

Disagree they had the same philosophy.

Kids these days want to feel wanted….important….needed. MSU has done a better job of that with personal visits from Vigen and others and blowing up social media with it (kids love that stuff).

Bobby and company have fallen short there. In fact, it was Bob’s thought that some of these kids should be lucky and fortunate to be a Griz. I don’t think he made them feel important or wanted more like they would be fortunate to come to Missoula. That is a huge difference.

If you listen to some of the interviews or articles with Adam Jones, that will give you a good feel for what I’m referencing.
Agree with everything you posted.

No one in modern college football is running the 4-3. It is still used in high school and the NFL.
Well as we were talking about the Univerity of Montana (neither a high school nor an NFL team) I assumed everyone would be able to make the jump that college football was what I was referencing. My bad. I should’ve known better

BH looked for a certain type of kid. If they needed to feel important or otherwise, they probably wouldn’t be a fit for him. He wanted guys who simply loved football, being part of the team and were willing to be coached hard. Unfortunately, in today’s environment, these kids are tougher to find. I think that’s part of his frustration. He realized he would have to change his principles in order to adapt and so he chose to retire rather than do so.

I agree with Bobby on this. Most kids today are so entitled, it makes me ill. If it isn’t all about them, then they go away crying and whining. I don’t think I want them on my team in the first place, no matter how good an athlete they may be.

Hogwash !!!

Yes, and if you read the interviews with incoming freshman All-State WR and DB William Snell, 6-4, 195, and is also a state sprint champion from State A runner up and '24 Class A State Champion Billings Central who comes from an MSU family but chose us over MSU because our staff felt more like family to him and were "awesome" to him and his family, including winning over his mom who was very pro MSU, you'll realize that while the 2025 preseason Big Sky Offensive MVP, '25 end-of-season Big Sky Honorable Mention Jones didn't come to UM and that we did indeed lose some recruiting battles under Coach Hauck, we also won plenty, and Justin Green 💚, at Hauck's direction, recruited Montana hard. That's how Bridger Salvevold, a freshman 6-2, 207 lb LB ends up a GRIZ from Class C Culbertson on the Mon/Dak border, over 600 miles east of Missoula.

While I hope Coach K is equally or even more successful recruiting Montana than Coaches Hauck and Green 💚, my prediction is just like under Coaches Hauck and Green, we're not going to win all of these battles.

Probably not, but I think he could have won more with some added effort.

Would Coach Kennedy have won the Taco Dowler battle by agreeing to also offer Caden instead of just Taco?

It's been short time since I visited this site (about a week). I was doing my usual yearly chore of processing sheep and other animals on my small ranch. I can see a lot has happened.

I am stunned and surprised at Hauck's retirement. Many may not be.

To me he will be remembered for the consistent level of excellence he brought to the UM FB team.

I wish him and his family the best in their future pursuits. To me I don't think he is done with FB. May-be a special teams coach in NFL next season.

Bobby Hauck represented UM well and is a credit to the university, the sport and the general community.

I wish him well.

Well said!

IDK if Bobby Hauck was in the room or not but if he was then I can understand the hesitancy to not wanna publicly say what he's changing. Especially if he's still living with him lol.
Bobby was not, but Stacy was in the room. I thought that very classy of Bobby to allow it to be the new HC’s moment & not be a distraction of any sort, yet still be represented there.

For those who went to the presser, what players were there? Any notable absences?
Most were there…great turnout of players (both new additions & veterans). Every one of them hugged BK as they walked out. Really great to see. Notable attendee was Solo…I believe he has received a waiver granting him an additional year…good news for the Defense👍🏼

I agree but hopefully in future cases, similar to the Dowlers….the Griz win those. The fact that they both wanted to come to UM but that Hauck wouldn’t take Caden is absolutely mind blowing And has to go down as one of the biggest recruiting blunders of all time.

And you know this happened how ?

So we took the Beaner brothers, the Gilman brothers, but somehow, he and Justin Green with a successful history of recruiting brothers just passed on the Dowlers ?

Well, I think this story is pure fiction and bulls__t : ( !!! And someone might say, " Well, Caden said this ..... " , and my response to that is, don't believe everything you read or hear unless the Coach Hauck or Green responded and since neither Bobby or Justin did, and the duo had a history of recruiting brothers, there is more to the story than we know like, for example, we offered one brother a full ride and the other a half scholly.
