Injury?

Now that we know that he did suffer a concussion, the next question is how long did he play with a concussion and why was he allowed to play with a concussion?

Montana football coach Mick Delaney confirmed Friday morning that senior quarterback Jordan Johnson will not play in Saturday's home game against Central Washington.

Johnson suffered a concussion in Saturday's game at Wyoming. He will be replaced by senior Shay Smithwick-Hann.

"Jordan is going to be fine," Delaney told the Missoulian. "It's just a precaution you have to make sure you do the right thing when that happens."

I rewatched that game last night, specifically looking for the play where I thought Jordie might have gotten concussed. Couldn't find it. At one point he was 5-7 passing, hadn't been touched, and suddenly just started missing wildly. Really really confusing...

1st quarter: 4-6 for 23 yards with one dropped pass. In the 2nd quarter: 2-5 for 26 yards prior to Burke's TD pass. On Burke's TD pass he went out and tried to throw a block on a defender that didn't look pretty...not sure if it happened there. But after that, shit just hit the fan from JJ's perspective.

He must have bounced his head off the turf or something. Thats all i can think of...

I don't know if they showed it on TV, but I was at the game and there was a very late hit on JJ that didn't have a flag thrown and put him on the ground hard. I think it was sometime in the 2nd quarter if I remember correctly. Could have possibly been from that?

why was he playing with a concussion? I thought we had protocol in place to knock that shit off

Athletes are good at lying in order to keep playing. If he was not taken out and no one noticed, then a neuro test would not have been indicated. Remember, what we see on TV is different than what coaches and trainers see on the sideline.
Good point, except I feel a coach should be watching very close if his star just got rocked to see how he picked himself off the turf. You have to be super sensitive to his every movement at that point and if he looked dazed of if his play dropped off, he needed to be evaluated.

Well, at times, the wind was blowing about 110 miles an hour and it seemed to be coming from all directions! Seriously, I've been through cat 4 hurricanes that were mild in comparison.

Yeah, I noticed that, and yet the announcers hardly touched on that issue...they did mention it a couple times, but really acted like it was no big deal...

coming from all directions!

Geez, no kidding. I kept thinking, "well at least we've got the wind at our back on this drive". Then I'd look at the starched flags, and think, "Oh wait....".

I blame AZ for this situation. It was his "goals" thread that jinxed JJ.

I guess we should have listened to AZ.
:werd:

I've been telling ya'll that for years.

It's the name. Lots of bad memories of the prior AZGriz.

Yes, yes, I'm aware. In fact I was accused of BEING the prior AZGriz when I first arrived.

Anybody remember his wistful "As I look out at the stars in the Arizona sky from my deck..." post on the old bookstore forum?

Classic!

(I miss him.)

One thing I like about Hyphen Ham is that he throws a decent long ball. When he is on his long throws are very good.

Yes indeed he is slow and some of his short passes are off and thrown to hard. I look for him to do very well Sat. In any event It makes the game far more interesting. I also hope we get ahead enough and can watch some of the "new" kids do the Griz proud!

For some reason I think the team we are playing will be pretty damn good. They will throw and run the ball very well, so we can't be sitting around smoking dope!

Lets see what a brand new coach with a good record can do, perhaps he will end up a Griz some day.
