I think it is a bigger reflection on FCS in general than it is on Sacramento. The fact that it took move up rumors (not even a sure thing) for community members in Sacramento to give a shit about their program and their schools is kinda sad I think. Kudos to them for being excited now, but why couldn't they care about Sac State in the past?
That's true, but all I'm saying is it's kind of a bad look that now suddenly everyone is going to care about you cause you may go to the PAC12. They're literally going from zero NIL money to now 35M over rumors of a potential move up. Nobody wanted to invest in the program to make them an FCS juggernaut all these years but suddenly now they choose to care about the program.I think it is a bigger reflection on FCS in general than it is on Sacramento.
One.Would be really interesting to see how many donors made up that commitment...
Not a bad look at all, it is the reality. That's true, but all I'm saying is it's kind of a bad look that now suddenly everyone is going to care about you cause you may go to the PAC12. You're right that it's an indictment on the FCS, I just think it's a little hypocritical that nobody cared to help them be as successful as possible at their current level
Seriously? Who is that individual?One.
Well, in fairness it did say "more than $35 million". So to be accurate, one donor gave $35 million, one gave 7 bucks and one donated a used doggie chew toy.
Maybe. I'd counter that this shows that people care more about being in the FBS than competing for "true national championships" in the FCS for that particular school in that part of the country. That's true, but all I'm saying is it's kind of a bad look that now suddenly everyone is going to care about you cause you may go to the PAC12. My guess is it will be contingent on getting into a FBS conference. So here's something that popped into my mind. Let's say hypothetically the SEC and Big10 put their foots down and tell all of FBS that there will be no more FCS move ups (which there are rumors of). Are these donors for the 35M still gonna be willing to pony up the 35M if Sac State stays at the FCS, or is this only contingent on them getting a PAC12 invite?
