I'm A Bad Fan

This years team is not a "decent mid major team". The Griz teams you mentioned were decent. Just a few weeks ago even making the conference tournament was in doubt. Argue your points, but the personal attack leaves you open to a counter attack, such as 'Your long term memory is good, but the short term is poor. That is, also, a early indicator of dementia. Touche', goldfish!' But I would never do that. :punch:

My short term memory is good enough to remember that this Griz team gave Pac12 Washington (top 100) a good game, beat a decent South Dakota State team on the road, only lost by 1 to a very good San Francisco team and has shown that they are capable of being pretty damn good offensively at times. Of course at times they look awful too (like against NAU). They are inconsistent but very capable of hanging with other decent programs so it blows my mind seeing people ready to give up on this team and the entire program so easily.

I stand by what I said about it being pathetic some people are ready to give up on the Griz BB program because of one mediocre season and a couple poor showings in the NCAA tournament against top tier teams.

I've never understood all the negative talk about the Griz BB team getting blown out by Top 10 or 15 basketball teams, but if our FB team stays within 5 TDs of a medicore Tennessee team it's a great accomplishment.

Maybe that's just me....

I think it's because some people just love to dwell on the negatives and forget all the positives about Montana basketball. It fits their "woe as us, we suck and we will always suck" argument better if they selectively forget the positives and just keep pointing out the same two poor showings in the tournament.

I swear, some of this crap is starting to sound like the Bobcat BB fans... except they actually have a good reason to be that way with the direction their program is headed!

For Big Sky and Griz fans there may be no more of a worry free D-1 conference in the country.
It'll be another predicatable one-and-done for the "champion"- better id'd as the sacrificial lamb. From November to March the BSC is a fool's paradise where teams beat up on each other in a sort of intramural tag team match that in the end is meaningless. The best BSC teams are those that left the BSC: Nevada, Boise State and Gonzaga. My March Madness blues began early watching a North Dakota State team that could whip anybody in the BSC win the Summit championship. Expecting anything good to come out of associating with this crowd of losers is pure folly. It's the truth. deal with it... :coffee:

Sorry to shatter your version of the "truth" but North Dakota (who is in the Big Sky btw) whipped your beloved North Dakota State 95-77 earlier this year. That's the truth. Deal with it. :coffee:

EVERY conference has a down year. But, the Big Sky is in serious swoon. It will be better next year, count on it. UM is one or two big interior guys away from being very good and Weber, UND, EWU, SAC are all capable of huge improvement with one or two additions to their line up. This is a year to just sit back, hard as it is, and accept that UM is doing ok. With Dunn, Gregory, Weisner, Deshields , that's as good a start as most get!

One intrastate rivalry game won by a conference newbie does nothing to give any credence to a severely lackluster BSC. Dream on...zzzzzzzz The aforementioned "intramural tag team matches" that are BSC b-ball, and the resulting subpar RPI's, will keep the conference dwelling in D-1's basement invisible to all but the likes of you and your true believer brethren...

So I just happened to be in Flagstaff last weekend. I didn't plan to be there when the Cats and Griz were there, it just worked out that way. Thursday, instead of going to the Cats-Jacks game I went to beautiful Sedona. Saturday, I skipped the Griz game to go to the Grand Canyon, although I had mixed feelings about missing it. I listened to the last part on the way home and was glad I didn't go. Sorry folks, I have no regrets about missing both games. Arizona is a beautiful place this time of year, they actually have colors other than white.

Hi, my name is cclarkblues and I am a bad fan.

My Griz buddy and I were there as well...went to the Griz/NAU BB game and visited the great sights and colors of Sedona after and saw the gorgeous sunset...

Oh, so it was an intrastate rivalry game so it doesn't count against your "NDSU would Whip any team in the Big Sky" comment... I see...

Look, I don't like us being in the Big Sky either, but I prefer to use actual factual evidence for why the Big Sky is a low-major conference instead of rattling off inaccurate doom and gloom statements like how NDSU would "whip" any team in the Big Sky (even though they got whipped by UND earlier in the year). If you want to make an argument that the Big Sky is a horrible conference then at least try to research your "truth" a bit next time so you don't spout off bullshit that makes it incredibly obvious that you have no idea what you are talking about. Just a suggestion :thumb:

Call me crazy, but 4500 posts seems like a few too many for someone who hates the Big Sky and all things about it so much

Assuming that's a question, the Big Sky was a hell of a lot better conference back when - and mostly before - I launched my first post a dozen or so years ago. Through many of those 4,500 plus entries I had the dwindling hope that the powers-that-be might develop some vision for Griz athletics. Hasn't happened. Meanwhile my detractors babble endless feel good blather about a program that's going nowhere. Contrary to what many seem to think, I find it very depressing that an athletic program that once held so much promise has been willing to settle for so little. Ditto for "fans" who have silently watched it happen...now for my 2 percent latte :coffee: Cheers!

(Uhh, time for 68' to shake his grizzled bean...)

You have no idea what my grizzled head is doing. It just seems that YOU, who appears to hate all things Big Sky, would have something better to do than to post on this message board. Then again, perhaps you don't....

Everyone has an opinion and something else. Here is one undeniable fact: Portland State 70, Montana 63. It is finally over! :puke:
Hate to admit it, but this team did better than I thought they would. I figured the season was pretty much over at halftime at Minnesota......any wins after that against Div 1 teams was icing on the cupcake.
