If your HC is also OC . . .

. . . you don't have to pay an OC. Does anyone think this was a factor? Does it free up some coin for our HC's salary? Loophole to bypass the BOR trying to keep the UM HC compensation commensurate with the Ash's? I would think that total coach compensation is the material number. Just a thought.

It could be used to pay a qb coach, or a good special teams coach. Maybe, he will get pay raises for his staff using that money. That is a good question though.

I also wonder if either the QB, OL, or WR coaches will be mentored and learn about Stitt's offense to prepare them for a future gig as well.

they will still have the same number of assistant coaches, and I would be fairly confident that one will be designated as OC

There are several FBS schools without an OC or DC based on the HC taking on one of those roles. That said, maybe they give an additional guy a title down the line. Not sure an assistant LB coach can command the same coin as an OC, but I don't disagree with your post.
