Not much you can do in a day, or with the hoops you have to jump through for facilities upgrades.
I think I would push to have every contribution athletics makes to the U branded. Science building branded, bookstore branded, If the reason your Saturday work study job is Griz fans on campus, the position posting should say so.
Every time I get around students and faculty I'm frustrated by comments about athletics getting everything while the rest of the U goes without. Bullshit! It's the only athletics program in state higher ed that contributes anything. Everyone should be aware of that when discussions turn to facilities or student athletic fees or salaries for that matter. I'd also start preparing for the day when the obligation the the science building expires. I'd push for $200k of that cash to be directed to athletics and the other $50k to be used for $100 book credits for 500 students each year. The credit has to be applied for and received at the Adams Center, leaving no question about where the money came from.
I'd rather see that instead of the money being thanklessly dumped into the general fund, which is probably exactly what will happen.
