If you can't handle losing or adversity....

Good thing this is just an "opinion" board... and I know this is Obama's New America, but until all his Minions fully take over the airwaves and internet, I think we are all still free to comment on what we think and believe from viewing the same game. 2000 E-Grizzers = 2000 different opinions. I agree with some of Brint's post, and think some of it is BS. But please don't order E-Grizzers to do anything or agree with you, or this place wouldn't be worth a siht to tune in to. :argue:

Wow... I hope you had your tinfoil hat on when you thought of that post. They may have read your mind if you didn't... Making a statement like that about how Obama is going to "take over the internet" is really ridiculous. The internet is not controlled by a single company..it's not "AOL" :P It's not controlled by a single country. Even the great firewall of China isn't keeping people from seeing what the Chinese government doesn't want them to see while they are in China.. Learn a little more about how the internet actually works, and then you'll see why your statement is ridiculous.

To quote one of the founders of the EFF, one of the first employees of Sun Microsystems, and a pretty damn smart guy (John Gilmore) - The Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. That was true years ago when he said it, and is still true today.

The government and the big corporations can't even effectively shut down sites like atdhe.tv and the many other streaming and file sharing sites out there. What makes you think they have the ability to censor the internet when they can't even take out foreign websites permanently?

Well back to the topic.. I don't think many people are giving up on the Griz yet this year. Quite a few are frustrated, and very worried sure... we can only afford to lose one more game, and with @NAU, @MSU and Weber at home, that's going to be tough. Though many of us are very concerned, I'm guessing we all will be glued to either the TV or have our butts in the seats for every remaining Griz game this year... And we'll continue bitching about stuff that we don't like on eGriz of course...which really is a sign that we care enough to bitch about it :) If eGriz ever goes silent on something like a bad loss then we'll know people have given up and support is dwindling.

It is a generational thing, the generation that we hail from, didn't look to instant gratification, to pursue and enjoy life.

Fans of the Swarthout days, are fans of many disappointments, till the regime of coach Read, and it was well worth the wait, to enjoy the program and teams that have evolved.

I can assure you this, after reading the tripe posted after Sat. game, there would not be many that would do what many of the fans did even while not winning conference championships, going to the playoffs and even winning National Championships, to advance and promote the program to what it has become, I glad and grateful that I was part of that, so those that seem ungrateful can enjoy and complain today.

Go Griz. I see you Sat. without even giving a thought about last week.

yeah, i walked ten miles a day up and down steep mountains and through five feet of snow to get to elementary school, too. and enjoyed every second of it.

hell, I remember some of the pre Swarthout years, now those were ugly. yet the fan base, small as it was, were truly a loyal group. if I remember right we were something like 2-8 or something like that against the Cats. what we're seeing right now is certainly a little uncomfortable, but nowhere near the realm of ugly. winning is great, but even when it doesn't happen it's possible to enjoy yourself and have fun. well, luckily for some of us it is!

Interesting analogy. It is similar to saying don't complain about todays cars. I remember when there were Model T's and you had to crank them up to start the car - you didn't have the luxury of using a key so don't complain about paying $40k for a car that doesn't have air conditioning because it is better than it used to be.

Exactly putter.....the bar has been raised slightly over the last 20 years.....as have the ticket prices. So if 1970's level of play is what we are going to get ticket prices better reflect that. People aren't gonna keep paying $40'000 for a used cadillac without A/C

don't complain? damn, i'm a gold card member of the complainers club! nothing wrong with complaining, up to a point. at a point you act or devolve from a complainer to a chronic bitch'n moaner.

Who does complaining about cars have in common with complaining about your team? Some of the complete lack of logic and basic intelligence on this board makes me wonder how some get through a single day of life.

Put the pom poms down for just a sec, you cheerleader you.
Now, think this one through, COMPLAINING is the common thread, OK? Analogy? Metaphor?
You're right about lack of logic and basic intelligence, but I have to hand it to you, adversity or not, you keep coming back!
Oh, you also need to work on your sense of humor. Don't fret, all the above can be worked on and improved. Divine intervention, if nothing else.

We have all waited since last year to get that bad taste out of our mouths and I'm sure the team and coaches have as well. Tennessee was for the most part a given going into it, no bitches. Cal Poly was scary coming in and we stared slow but made good half time adjustments and we all left with a new sense of hope. In comes EWU at 0-2 and left 0-3 now 0-4, WOW and we think we have it bad. Then on the road to Sac and we all knew this was not going to be a easy kind of game. All preseason they were touted as being a true contender this year, yes they stumbled the previous two games but they rebounded and played a very good game against us and we were totally flat. And sometimes the ball just does not bounce your way, its just that simple. We had our chances to come back and win but just could not get it done. Now we have a very down Northern Colorado team coming in that we should not just beat but beat soundly if we are any kind of team we think we are. Then onto Idaho ST and they always seem to give us a game there no matter what kind of season they or we are having so that one scares me somewhat. If the Sac team that we played shows up in BOZO they better have there jockstraps on tight because that is not going to be a cake walk for the Kitties.
I have in all honesty posted some not so pleasant things about the coaching and such but still have hopes that this team can pull it together and make a good run like we did a couple years ago after the Weber game. Let's hope that this is that kind of team, I know I will be that kind of fan.
Thanks Brint for reminding some of us why we should be proud to be Griz fans

Then there's the door ------>

Griz fans need to settle down, get behind the players, and support the program. No program ever has or ever will remain a continual dominant force during it's entire existence, it's simply not possible. We all knew coming into this season that there were going to be more harsh adjustments, an incredibly tough conference, and that this team was going to be breaking in a relatively inexperienced QB regardless who won the starting spot. There were plenty of signs of bumps along the road this season.

That said, there are plenty of signs that not only can this team salvage the entire season but it can still win the conference, make the playoffs, and hit all of their team goals. We've seen countless teams build from the adversity of tough road losses ('08 vs Weber, '04 vs PSU AND SHSU, '95 vs Idaho, and so on). So don't tell me b/c this team has 1 conference road loss that the season is over. We have a team that is top-heavy with senior leadership that will not let this loss just slide.

I know there's a ton of concerns, there always is after a tough loss on the road. This team is full of smart players and coaches that are working their butts off this week to learn from it, improve on it, and get better. I have my big concerns with special teams, playcalling, and suddenly the rush defense, however I know that the best people to make those adjustments (the players and coaches) are working on it with one common goal, to improve.

As fans, it's time to rally and support the Griz. I'm not saying to hold back your concerns or criticizm, but don't give up on these guys after this loss. I think that with this reality check the Griz are going to start playing tougher, meaner, and more efficiently. I'm excited for the rest of this season, and I'm not quitting on this team and I hope all of you won't either.

GO GRIZ

We are behind the players, its the coaching staff we are having the problem. They are busting there asses for a coach that does not have a clue.

Could you provide a list of the reasons that causes you to say the coach doesn't have a clue?

Sac St: 49 rushes for 238 yards, 18-27 for 224 yards passing for a grand total of 462 yards of offense. And 1 punt. Looks like the defense did not have a clue.

A coaching staff that does not have a clue? The only thing coaches gain by listening to the fans is a seat next to them in the stands. Listen I played when Pflu and Beers were here before and unless you are some football guru who isn't involved in coaching then I'm pretty sure both of the above and the other coaches have probably forgotten more football then you know.

I'm not ready to signal the death of this season or the program. There have been three programs over the course of the last 30 years that have had the kind of success the Griz have had. Georgia Southern has risen to the top, dropped and come back again and so can the Griz. Face the facts, the conference as a whole has more parity and the Griz simply don't get a pass anymore.

Do any of you "fans" listen to the players? Why are they coming to Montana over other schools? A large majority of them are saying it is because of the support of the Griz fans that tips the scales for them. As a fan base we need to keep supporting these kids. I'm not happy with the game that was played the other night, but give Sac credit. They have and will always put out some incredible athletes but tend not to play as a team at times. Be upset with the loss, but for some of the fans out there who didn't get a sliver from the seats at Dorny and who jumped on the Griz bandwagon when it was cool to support them, and now are ready to throw in the towel, you can leave. But being a Griz has a lot to do about pride and supporting the program when it is harder to be a fan.

That shows that SS's offense did well and UM's defense didn't? Please tell us how you believe that shows that the coach didn't have a clue. UM defenses have given up that much yardage in many games over the years.

It's interesting to me that the 'whining' on e-griz hasn't really changed in the years I've been on e-griz. I'm in Colorado and one thing I'd note is that UNC is bad and nobody (and I mean nobody) cares. I'll take it as a positive that the Griz have a fan base that cares enough to complain.

Simple. The one thing that i've been squwaking about all week: not treating the missed FG series as 4 down territory. I have yet to hear someone disagree with me on that (and i would love to hear some rationale behind that decision btw because it might actually give me some faith). I even started a thread on it and got nothing but crickets. Makes me think most of griz nation agrees with me.

There's 8 pages of reasons here on egriz. Are you really that dense?

And just because UM defenses have given up that much yardage before, we should condone it as good coaching or par for the course? Sac St did the same thing all game long, and I failed to see any adjustments on the Griz defense to try and stop what Sac was doing, or force Sac to do something else. PR, did you see any signs or adjustments?

If Phlu is a winner, why is his kid at ASU? He knows about his daddy because he used to sit at the same dinner table and listen to his issues.

Griz fans are definately the best and I do believe in this contributes to some of our players choices.
