If Van is really healthy!!!!

We have to use him in the halfback slip screen. If we throw that to Van right at Daly 3 to 4 times this game, it would be money. Get the Cats D line on their heals and second guessing. Daly is the one player I'm worried about that could ruin the day. If we throw a couple screens to Van right behind him early, I think you get him guessing and Van in open space. You get Van 1 on 1 with a safety in open field its 20 yards plus. Comments?

No doubt. You don't find his speed at this level very often and if MSU's D-Line is worried about giving up a play, or, more likely their linebackers are afraid of it then this opens up the secondary for JJ.

Good weapons if they are healthy!

I agree, feel this will be one of the plays we use quite a few times, 10-25 yards/play. Keep everyone honest.

Well if the Coach is not blowing a smokescreen he did say this past Tuesday night on the radio talk show that Van was getting healthy, in fact he mentioned in practice this week that he was making cuts he had not made since his injury. That bodes well and would give us a good one two/three punch in the running game. We already know Henderson will be double teamed but how long will they be able to afford to do that. I wish #10 and #7 would also do some shorter passing routs as well and not just the long bomb pass which has worked but not as much last week. Although they were both not feeling well and that may have something to do with it. If JJ is on with his throws and the running game gets going the Cats are in for a loooooooong day.
I think this game comes down to three main things for a Griz win.
1. No turnovers
2. Good yardage on 1st downs
3. NO dumb ass penalties.
I will repeat #3
No dumb ass penalties.
Head to head I think we are the better team in November.

Montana leads the conference in turnover margin (by a wide margin) at+16....MSU is +8.

Montana leads the conference in fewest penalties & fewest penalty yards. Montana is 2nd in the conference in opponent penalties. Montana State is LAST in the conference in opponent penalties.

Me thinks the game hinges on #2. That's been our Achille's heel in the close games... :thumb:

I agree. On paper, the Griz are the better team. But we need to live up that standard on Saturday. Let's play smart football!
