If Ohio higher ed can do it, why not UM?

Youngstown State has just offered the college presidency to Jim Tressel, a state football legend booted from Ohio State football for serious team violations of NCAA rules. Yet Tressel is still recognized as a state education leader with much to contribute to Ohio's university mission.
Why can't Montana do the same for coach Pflugrad? A man UM did serious harm to in 2012 with a snap judgement firing over issues many coaches would survive.

There's a pretty large gap between the resumes of Tressel and Pflugrad.

Pflugrad as University president? lol.. holy cow. I think I want more out of a university president than a bachelors degree and a couple years as a division 1 head coach.

I was thinking more of Pflugrad as head coach. I find it strange that Tressel could get into the kind of trouble he did at OSU and be hired as a university president in the same state, while Pflugrad's career is devastated in Montucky where the U would never consider having him back in any capacity.

I would argue louder for Jim O for President.

I say we hire an insider, with ties to UM, with or without a degree, you know the good OL boy network! Works wonders to run sh*t into the ground.

Why hire an outsider who doesn't know anything about Montana, doesn't know the history or traditions of UMor UM athletics or who pervious presidents were, doesn't know the State or its cities and towns, doesn't know the current or recent administration. Doesn't know the strengths of UM and how to sell UM and Missoula to out of state students doesn't know anyone in the administration or faculty, doesn't know any of the financial supporters or fans, and has a clean slate. Someone with no ties to MT could probably hit the ground running within several years.

So what's the large gap?

Then look at your right ear..............the other right.

See the void/gap between them?

Alpha, why is it that you seem to have flipped out, and became a total d-bag--coinciding with when those player parents told you (rightfully) what they thought of you last fall? You have gone more off the wall, become a bigger racist, become a troll, and become a bigger d-bag. People you know, or who know you, are talking about you. What's up?

I could never have come up with such a perfect answer. My sides are hurting....

I don't think Robin would want the job, yet I think he would be more qualified than RE, regardless of his degrees etc. Our problem is the current prez is a one a dimensional guy. As for Robin, the guy really did have the big picture in his head (CEO type person) and would have at least known to get better advise in the areas he lacks knowledge. Had he been given the chance (without Gwen Floria), UM would have turned some of the image stuff around. He had a plan and Mr inept (RE) snuffed it out before it had time to develop. So, bottom line griz4life, I don't think your idea is that far out there.
Side note, I also believe a president really should have his doctorate, if not I would vote for Jim O'day for prez. He was a great AD.

It probably has to do with striving for excellence, and upping my game.

This place wouldn't get that since they bathe regularly in mediocrity and live in the past.

Did you guys notice the racist personal attack by Playa?

I know the MOD over looked it but just because he buries his head in the sand doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Whomever it is should have to take a class and pass a quiz on all of the above. If students have to take a PC class and quiz, the new President should have to pass a similar requirement for his position.
