If I could have any coach....

With all sincerity I would take Larry K. over any coach in the nation. Over the other Coach K, Lute Olson, Roy Williams, etc, etc.

I love the guy's swagger and ability to make his team compete.

Plus no other coach in the nation (except maybe the the General Bobby Knight) could have led the Griz to the Big Sky champ.

Krysko took a team with basically one player that was mediocre to a complete team.

.. And I am not just some sentimental griz fan.

Someone listening to a talk show on a Billings radio station yesterday told me that a topic of discussion was that Boise State is already after Krysko to move over there. Rumor, fact? Anyone heard anything?

Rumor. I believe Greg Graham has 2 more years on his contract and he had some success last year winning a couple games in the NIT. He'll be here awhile.

I really wonder how much Krysko would want to leave montana. He doesnt have to worry about the money which is a big reason someone would want to take the jump.

I can only see him moving if he got a plumb offer from a legit big conference school.

Make no mistake, Larry is a very ambitious and competitive guy. He sincerely loves Montana, but if the right opportunity arose he would probably jump at it. I think it probably take a couple of more very successful years before you would see him get any of the type of offers that he would be willing to leave Montana for. I think Larry genuinely wanta to be the one to resurrect the image of Montana basketball, so the situation is going to have to be perfect for him to leave. I know it was only one successfuly season, but I believe it is clear that Larry simply has what it takes to be a great college coach. He is tremendously disciplined, a great motivator, and has a profound understanding of what it takes to be successful in basketball, both collegiately and professionally. His experience in basketball is a great aid in recruiting, and i think you will start seeing players that reflect this.

If/when larry does leave, I think it is Tinkle's job to lose. I have complete confidence in Wayne and I believe he will be a worthy successor to Larry. On that note, with Larry and Tinkle on the same staff, I think we have the potential to develop some very good big men in the near future.

Larry K did a great job in time he may prove to be as good a coach as he was a player. With him at the helm UM the sky is the limit.
However as it stands now my vote goes to Ray Giacoletti-he is amazing.
I believe he will be famous-EWU loses 2players and sinks like a rock.
Go Griz.

...are not on your list. They are Bob Thomason and Sherri Murrell. While the Tigers may not do much next year due to about half the team graduating, you better watch out for Wazzu. That hottie is on the verge of a breakout season. They may not challenge for the Pac-10 title THIS year, but they'll be at least middle of the Pac and may well challenge in '06-07.

Ballhog, not to take anything away from Ray Giacolletti, but former Griz and coach Stew Morril's USU Aggies beat Ray's team by 26 points this year.

The Utes are overated (in basketball) they are benefiting from a great seed and the fact that in basketball the MWC is not that good right now.

I'm sure Stew enjoyed the win at the time, but I'm sure he would be willing to trade places now.

What you fail to mention is that the game was in Logan, USU shot twice as many FT's, got called for half as many fouls, the Utes shot 41.5% and the Aggies shot 65%. USU was on fire on their home court. They shot over 80% in the second half! That's ridiculous. Illinois would have gotten beat by 20 if they'd been in Logan that night.

How can Utah be over-rated when they were a 6 seed and made it to the sweet 16? A six isn't that great of a seed by the way. Games against UTEP and Oklahoma aren't exactly gimmes either. If anything, they were under-rated and have another chance to prove that this weekend against Kentucky.

I don't have an allegiance to either team, but I have to disagree. Utah is definitely not over-rated. It sounds more like an Aggie fan upset that the Utes are having a great year.

Nah, I wanted the U to win the baskeball "chipper", (as it is called in these parts), a few years ago. The farther they go the more power to em. I just think that Arizona is a better team than Oklahoma and way better than UTEP. Just my personal opinion.

Thanks for the Illinois comment. Since I work for an Illinois alum and work in IL , I think they would have killed the Aggies. USU was very up and down this past season, very inconsistent, so how they did would depend on what team showed up that particular night. No way they beat Chief Illiniwek though.

By the way, I live on the other side of the "Cheese Curtain", and I have been following UW-Milwaukee since I get the Milwaukee news, I heard they backed out of a trip to play the Griz in Missoula this year. Do you know if that is true or if the Griz have a trip out to Milwaukee planned next season? Thanks.

One more thing Rat, I would wager it is easy to get to the Sweet 16 as a 6 seed than a 14 seed, that was really my point.
