Idaho

Isn't Idaho still playing with a 3rd string QB? They still look like the best team in the Big Sky. And honestly the big sky doesn't look as good as previous years. Really the only teams that stand out are Idaho, MSU, Sac, and UM.

Idaho St seems to be hit or miss. They played pretty well yesterday.
Idaho is playing with their backup and he’s looked really good. ISU has been playing with their backup as well and they still managed to go 2-2 in non-conf, and SUU has an FBS win.

Next week will tell us a lot about the Idaho schools. The Vandys go to Davis who have looked rather underwhelming so far, and ISU hosts the cats. The cats have not been to Poky since 2018, but I still expect them to win. If ISU can keep it competitive though, they could be that team that can screw things up in the standings. As far as the Vandys, I expect them to win comfortably. I think the only way Davis has a chance is if they get Rex Connors back next week, but even then that still might not be enough. It’ll be an exciting opening week for sure!

They are playing with a pretty highly touted backup QB. He came back the next game after his injury and is talented. The 3rd stringer finished the game against Wyoming who looks god awful this year and got blown out by North Texas yesterday and is 0-4 now.

Big Sky looks top heavy for sure.

I think they were ranked 3rd in the nation last year when the Griz played them early in the conference season. This was coming off an early playoff exit in ‘22. They had an FBS win against Nevada last season and were the darlings of the national polls heading into ‘23 conference play. They ultimately got embarrassed in a home playoff loss and were a non-factor on the national stage last year. That high ranking proved to be fools gold.

The story of the ‘24 Vandals feels an awful lot like the story of the ‘23 Vandals to me. They may ultimately be a contender, but I have to see more before I’m sold on them as a top 5 team.
