Idaho says it can make $1.5 million more in game payments as an FBS than as an FCS.

Within 3 years the big boys will have reshuffled again, and Idaho will have found a FBS home. Although is by that time there is a hybrid division between FBS and FCS, then I agree, because the Big Sky would land in that division.

Idaho is doing their best to spin this as a positive. It's apparent to everyone else that they are sinking.

Also, what conference is going to want to take Idaho? The Mountain West and Sun Belt have already said no, and the MAC or Conference USA are probably both out of the question. The MWC will hold where it is and see how Boise State/San Diego State like the Big East, as well as having their other sports in the Big West. They will leave spots open for their return before taking Idaho.

Idaho is in a world of hurt, without a doubt.

Not reallly. Once the Big East adds a couple of more western teams to appease SDSU and BSU, there will be further erosion of the MWC....they will first look to Texas, but they will also look at NMSU & Idaho. Idaho will NEVER return to FCS (for football) , as I said if there is a hybrid division then I see it happening.

I am inclined to believe that we would have had an invite to another conference before the likes of Idaho, NMSU, TXST, etc.

If what I hear is true, there is a lot of money left on the WAC table because of the exit fees, etc. from the teams that have left for the MWC, meaning that while Idaho is in a world of hurt they don't want to miss out on a bigger payday than anything in the BSC can provide. New Mexico State is in the same line with the Vandals as the lone football-playing WAC survivors.

They plan on being in the Big Sky for as little time as possible. Thanks for asking :thumb:

The Big Sky should have said "only if you bring football." They had all the power. Idaho takes their chances, hopes someone snags them up into a BCS conference. The Big Sky gets Idaho for a little bit, then they bolt. Big Sky Commish Whats His Name, has to realize this, but is hoping that no one saves Idaho, and in the end the have to bring in football. I think they should have said "It's all or nothing right now, we might not have a spot for your football team down the road." Then Idaho would have been in the situation of not having a fall back at all, ever.

Considering the news came from a tweet, I highly doubt anything is official.

In a few years when there is a "middle tier" of FBS, the GRIZ, cats and vandals would make 3 pretty attractive members: FBS level facilities, decent success on the national level in other sports, and built-in rivalries. Precious few teams can offer all that.

Look for all 3 to move when the time is right.

How about I do whatever the hell I want and you deal with it. God forbid the appropriate forum was used, that would just be awful.
